The bridge between artificial intelligence and blockchain has long been held back by a critical bottleneck @shelbyserves @affinity_matrix ★ hot data storage. In this article, I will introduce Shelby and how it is moving closer to bridging blockchain infrastructure with the demanding requirements of modern AI systems. To better understand this, let’s start with a key question: Why does AI today need Shelby? ➤ Traditional AI development relies heavily on centralized cloud providers like AWS and Google Cloud, as they offer hot storage with millisecond-level data access. However, these solutions often face latency challenges, making them less suitable for real-time AI operations and large-scale model training. ➤ Shelby addresses this issue by creating a decentralized hot storage network on the @AptosLabs It is purpose-built for data-intensive tasks, enabling sub-second data access-a critical requirement for modern AI systems. ➤ Shelby not only accesses public data but also leverages @jump_ @doublezero fiber network - a specialized infrastructure designed to eliminate lag and bypass typical internet latency bottlenecks. ➤ AI datasets are extremely large, and storing full copies across multiple servers is costly. Shelby uses advanced erasure coding (Clay codes) to split data into fragments, significantly reducing storage costs (up to 99.99%) while remaining competitive with Web2 providers. ➤ Additionally, Shelby introduces on-chain data coordination. This allows AI researchers and data scientists - even those with limited connectivity - to contribute data and earn rewards based on data usage. Contributors can get paid whenever AI systems read their data, creating a new monetization model.
