Putin wanted to show “strength” but only confirmed his weakness. Overnight, Russia carried out one of the largest terrorist attacks on Kyiv with around 600 drones, many dozens of ballistic, air-ballistic, and cruise missiles, and a dummy IRBM. Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Zhytomyr regions were also under attack. As of now, at least two civilian people have been reported killed and many dozens injured. These numbers may grow. Many residential buildings have been damaged. Unable to achieve any results on the battlefield, Putin turns to terror against civilians. This strike was probably meant to demonstrate “strength” to the domestic audience, but instead it only confirms Putin’s weakness. Even Russians see that he is a loser. His “special operation” is not achieving any results. Losses are enormous, but there is not a single achieved goal. Except that there are no safe places in Russia any more, as Ukraine ramps up its special long-range sanctions. To our allies, I want to say this: it is time to double down, not back down, in supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on the Russian regime. We call for additional defense capabilities, including to protect our sky; investment in our defense industry; increased pressure on Russia, including entry ban for Russian combatants, full use of frozen assets; strong political decisions with regard to Ukraine’s EU accession and other steps. The world has the leverage. It needs to be used right — to show Moscow that such strikes will not bring any results — and force Russia to end this war.

Our intelligence services reported receiving data, including from American and European partners, about Russia preparing a strike with the Oreshnik missile. We are verifying this information. We are seeing signs of preparation for a combined strike on Ukrainian territory, including Kyiv, involving various types of weaponry. The specified intermediate-range weapons could be used in such a strike. It is important to act responsibly on air-raid alerts, starting this evening. Russian madness truly knows no bounds, so please protect your lives – use shelters. Second, we are drawing the attention of our partners in the United States and in Europe to the fact that the use of such weapons and the prolongation of this war also sets a global precedent for other potential aggressors. If Russia is allowed to destroy lives on such a scale, then no agreement will restrain other similar hatred-based regimes from aggression and strikes. We count on a response from the world – and on a response that is not post factum, but preventive. Pressure must be put on Moscow so that it does not expand the war. Third, we are preparing our air defense as much as possible, and we will respond fully justly to every Russian strike. We have given permission for a parade, but Russia has no permission for madness. This war must be ended – we need peace, not some missiles satisfying the sick ambitions of one individual. I thank everyone helping to protect lives. Once again, please take care of yourselves and use shelters tonight.

È esattamente lì che si decide se quegli annunci della Commissione diventano obblighi nel testo o restano lettera morta. @ora_italia è l’unica forza politica italiana che ha seguito questo dossier dall’inizio e che chiede al Parlamento europeo di usare quella sede per chiudere i nodi aperti. Dal governo Meloni, su un tema del genere, non ce lo aspettiamo di sicuro.

Russia is failing on the battlefield in Ukraine and is trying to intimidate us into reducing our support for Ukraine. The right response is to do the opposite: increase our support to Ukraine and boost Europe’s defences even further.

Ukraine carried out the biggest drone attack on Moscow in years, hitting a refinery, a fuel depot and industrial facilities. Drone debris was burning on the tarmac of the Sheremetyevo airport. Authorities say 3 people were killed, more than a dozen injured. Ukraine struck after Russia carried out a massive raid on Kyiv last week, killing 24 Ukrainian civilians.

Somehow everybody except the people actually voting on EU laws, understands that we need to radically unify and reduce the burden of fragmentation and bureaucracy.

L'Italia spende il 16% del proprio PIL in pensioni. Siamo campioni del mondo dove molte pensioni non sono state nemmeno pagate dai contributi. Un sistema che è di fatto fallimentare, che oltre tutto, per il futuro, si basa su stime di "fertilità" fuori dal mondo. O si agisce sulle pensioni, o le tasse continueranno a crescere e crescere.
