🚨Vehicle Registration Data for 2025 🚨 December stats are extraordinary with Electric Cars taking 32.2% market share. Petrol registrations plummet below 40% market share for the first time and diesel falls to 4.2% of all new registrations. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids rise as expected. Petrol market share has fallen below 50% for the year at 46.4% with electric cars climbing to 23.9% market share for the year. The 28% ZEV mandate target for EVs in 2025 should have been met when Government flexibilities are taken into account.

More solar was installed globally in first 4 months of 2025 than in all of 2022! New battery storage is also setting global records in 2025. Wind too likely sets a new global record for deployment in 2025. EVs have record sales in 2025. Petrostate politicos freak out.

@dc_lawrence Although I broadly agree with what you are saying…. Air to air heat pumps will get us part way in heat decarbonisation. Often only serving 1/2 rooms, and not providing hot water. They can help reduce gas demand, but not the whole solution.

2. Heat pumps Britain needs to wean itself off gas heating, and the solution is heat pumps. Air-to-air heat pumps can offer cooling as well as heating, but are currently exempt from government support. Allowing AC would drive heat pump adoption sooner.
