@abayer True across the UK I think. There is no rule, and people just walk on whichever side of the pavement they like.

But as best as I can tell from the five times I’ve been to the UK as an adult, there is no consistency to which side of the sidewalk people use. I wonder whether this is true across the UK, or if London’s hyper-cosmopolitan nature and the masses of tourists just break logic.

I will never, ever figure out the right approach to London sidewalks. All of my instincts say stick to the right side, but, obviously, streets, train tracks, etc are all on the left here, so I feel like I should walk on the left too.

My son has started saying loads of words recently, so got curious about how much it varies by age, and wow is there a lot of variation...

@_JacobTomlinson @TEGNicholasCode @xarray_dev Thanks for the suggestions! Rechunking is always going to be a bottleneck, but I'd be pleased if we could get to the point in Cubed where there is one intermediate store per rechunk operation in a workflow.

@tom_e_white @TEGNicholasCode @xarray_dev Momento and DragonflyDB look interesting. Or even something like Elasticache? Task fusion would help reduce intermediate steps but if your workflow requires occasional rechunking it wouldn’t help much.

I want a future where an xarray workload can be executed like a SQL query, on a wide range of backends, who compete to provide the best performance in various cases. howqueryengineswork.com/01-what-is-a-q…

An exciting technical project we've been working on at modal.com allows us to build a fresh container image, and boot up a lot of containers running that image, on many different nodes, all in a couple of seconds. Some notes on how we do it:
