@RoyLivingstone6@KeithAdamTaylor@Peston Which is wrong. Under ECHR refugee law it is an “irregular” entry. If their claim for asylum is turned down then it becomes illegal. If they are granted refugee status it becomes a legal entry. There’s far too much rhetoric around this and using the correct legal terms is best.
There is a full scale political crisis for the home secretary Suella Braverman and new PM Rishi Sunak in the failure to prevent the Manston migrant processing centre being totally overwhelmed by asylum seekers. Here are the important facts. 1/20
@RoyLivingstone6@KeithAdamTaylor@Peston except it is not either...
Please, go educate yourself on the 1951 Refugee Convention and Adimi, R (on the application of) v Uxbridge Magistrates Court & Anor [1999] EWHC Admin 765 (29 July 1999) before you start spouting right-wing piffle.
@chrisjlatimer@Martin44032601@KeithAdamTaylor@Peston Go read Adimi, R (on the application of) v Uxbridge Magistrates Court & Anor [1999] EWHC Admin 765 (29 July 1999)
Transiting through a state doesn't mean an asylum seeker has to claim. asylum there.
@Martin44032601@KeithAdamTaylor@Peston Go read the 1951 Refugee Convention you ignorant ass...
And whilst you are at it look up Adimi, R (on the application of) v Uxbridge Magistrates Court & Anor [1999] EWHC Admin 765 (29 July 1999).
Moron.
@APattison@Peston Stick to medicine, not economics... yes central bank interest rates have been rising as they try to combat inflation but government borrowing costs are much more closely linked to economic credibility and the guarantee of repayment.
Bond yields are now down 40 basis points, or 0.4 of a percentage point. The market reaction - a fall in interest rates - is as positive as the new chancellor could have hoped for. Nothing shows more conspicuously the reckless risks taken in the mini budget. But the…
@nikkidaniels65@pauljam19759849@RSPBEngland except that's not what they're saying is it. They're saying you can't completely tear up the planning rulebook and allow building over vital wildlife habitats.
I live in rural Essex and this size of my village has more than tripled under EXISTING planning law... so why this now?
@nikkidaniels65@pauljam19759849@RSPBEngland New homes in country villages aren't affordable and simply become second homes for rich city dwellers anyway.
We have enough homes in the UK already... the problem is how those houses are distributed. We need more affordable and social housing - the Tories won't give you that.
@Englebecius@HanaganNic@SL69018390@ShehabKhan I hate to break it to you but many of the people in the top bracket you aspire to are not there on merit...
They are there because of the socio-economic status of their parents which allows them to go to a private school and then an elite university where they make connections.
@HanaganNic@SL69018390@ShehabKhan I work at the lower levels and have worked hard to progress in my career. Not in the bracket of higher tax myself but it’s my aim to get there…one day. I just don’t look at successful people (self made or fortunate) and think they owe me anything. I’m in charge of my own life
@Englebecius@Bazza315@ShehabKhan Except people earning £100k or £150k aren't working 3 full time jobs. They're simply being paid a lot more per hour.
OK maybe they choose to do 48, 50 or 60 hours but that still doesn't add up to 3 full time jobs.
@Bazza315@ShehabKhan That’s not what I said, but if someone works 3 full time jobs on minimum wage they would be in the higher tax bracket…if someone works 3 part time jobs to make up full time hours they probably work just as hard as someone with 1 full time job
@Englebecius@SL69018390@ShehabKhan Because schools, roads, police, military etc all need to be paid for... and it is only just and equitable that those with the broadest shoulders carry more of the load.
I say this as a top rate of tax payer myself.
@SL69018390@ShehabKhan Do you think the heads and managers start their careers at the top, many work hard for years, putting in extra hours & making sacrifices in their everyday lives to get to that level. Also if you’ve never been at that level how can you comment on work that may be done out of sight
@KwasiKwarteng will the government be giving any clarity on the future BIK rates for salary sacrifice EV schemes? Employees looking to join schemes are typically signed up to 2-3 year leases and so it is vital that we have price certainty in terms of BIK rates into 2024/5.

Highlighting 1 of the 45+ levels to explore. Over the next weeks, each level will be highlighted, all were made with attention to detail and love over many months / years.
@adarshrcb14@GaryLineker Funny how people who say things like this are also the most likely to have done sod all to help anyone (British or otherwise)... probably because the empathy of others casts a long shadow over their own lazy and self-centred nature.
