Even if Dreesen and Freund „promised“ him they would do their utmost to sign him later, then Eberl, as Executive Board Member would have had the right and power to veto it (he used his veto for Flick so he could have used it here too). Most importantly, there was nothing agreed yet with Fulham, as they negotiated the transfer fee in summer 2024, so the transfer happened at a time Eberl assumed his position and responsibilities. Same applies for Olise, even if the transfer was prepared by Pilawa and Freund, in the end it happened under Eberls responsibility. A Vorstand is always responsible for everything that happens within his division, good and bad. It might be possible that he and all the others were convinced that Goretzka would leave and Palhinha was an ideal replacement at that time. Who knows.

@tomkat1900 I am honestly still unsure on who to blame for Palhinha since Dreesen basically promised him the transfer in the year before. But it doesn't excuse that fact that Eberl didn't veto it when he could.

Future of FCB Sport Management Eberl and Freund. 1. working relationship it seems both work well together and both with the scouting and Campus. 2. search for a new coach it is very irritating that Eberl, despite having many months to prepare for his new job as executive on the management board of FCB, had no clear view on which style / philosophy the new coach must embody. Alonso Nagelsmann Rangnick and then even back to Tuchel all stand for a complete different management style. I admire him to have stood firm by his / their choice to propose Kompany despite Hoeness and Rummenigge favouring Flick (who also would have been a great choice). - i still do not understand why he supported or rushed Ito and Palhinha in 2024. Obviously commend and praise him for being responsible signing Olise Tah Bischof Urbig and Díaz. But rushing Ito and Palhinha and then running dry and not being able to sign Doue and Tah for financial reasons is weird (despite the supervisory board telling him the limit beforehand) - I think he and Freund together are principally most capable and qualified to plan a proper squad for FCB, identifying our needs and the „right“ players fitting our team (even if players like Doue Simons Wirtz Woltemade Williams were not signed due to different reasons). So Eberl football instincts are excellent enough for FCB standards. - I am not sure if his commercial and financial skills, as well as his working relationship with Dreesen and the three big guys on the supervisory board are good enough. There might be a problem here similar to RBL where he was clearly accused of not working and liaising enough with colleagues and superiors. If this is the case then the reasons for this may be rooted in his Gladbach years where he was able to work more on his own without the necessity to consult as much as working for RBL and FCB. It seems odd that he comes across sulking if he doesn’t succeed with his ideas within FCB and even talks publicly that he was given homework which he has to fulfill. His behaviour is not what you would expect from an excellent top executive of the management board of FCB. You should publicly appear more self assured in a confident demeanour. If he acts in a similar manner internally I could imagine why Hainer Hoeneß and Rummenigge are reserved and carefully considering to extend his contract quickly. Squad planning and construction is the most important job at FCB (after the coach) and the financial aspect and an excellent understanding of it, are as important as the football aspects. Going forward the supervisory board want a guy they can trust and entrust this job to without fearing to get a Salihamidzic mark2. They might think Eberl is an excellent sport director but not an excellent sport executive on the management board. Best and ideal scenario would be obviously to extend his contract, stability wise, but only if they are fully convinced of his qualities required for this job. If they are it would be great keeping everyone together Dreesen Eberl Freund until 2030. and then injecting pure FCB DNA. Wait and see

Personally I would like to believe that both know already exactly how they intend to amend and adjust our squad. That they already evaluated, prediscussed and prepared the various players and options they defined. That Eberl communicate and present those to the supervisory board in the forthcoming meeting this week, exactly what both have in mind and seeks approval in principle; there will be a lot of different scenarios with different variables („option 1,2,3 and if this then that etc“) depending on developments during negotiations. Their should be a clear understanding what’s possible and what not. Ideally both realise as many ideas as possible prior the WC. I sincerely hope that Eberl provides sufficient comfort to the supervisory board so that they are convinced enough to extend his contract. And Freunds contract. The decision about Eberl will be taken in the foreseeable future, even if they won’t be able to formally extend prior July 1, I am sure they will have decided prior.

The only thing I believe what he said was that he never experienced all people at Säbener be absolutely watertight so that no information whatsoever being leaked. In other words he gets almost all his Information presently from agents and thus has no real clue to know today how many players we are signing in the summer. Personally I am convinced that we will not sign a €50+ player without significant sales, especially Kim. Seems sometimes he mixes the view as a neutral or transfer „expert“ with his own views.

🚨🧨 Bayern Munich will make 3-5 signings this summer. However, the club will remain 'calm' regarding transfers, as the market is expected to pick up pace later due to the World Cup. Bayern particularly need reinforcements at full-back. (🗞️ @Plettigoal)

Maier on Bayern's current team: "Of course, they're a good team, and of course Vincent Kompany is a fantastic coach. I'm happy for him. Because he's down to earth and likeable – that resonates with people. He understands the players. It was the same with Udo Lattek. But it was also easier to manage our team back then" • Why? Maier: "Nine or ten of our players were from Bavaria – we were real Bavarians. Today, it's a team of international superstars. Leading this team is difficult. Vincent Kompany is doing it brilliantly. And I hope he continues like this for another 10 years"

Bayern legend Sepp Maier (part of the 1971/72 team that holds the 101-goal Bundesliga record) on the record on the verge of being broken: "That's not a problem for me. Records are there to be broken. That's where your ambition comes from" • Back then, the title race lasted until the final matchday, so you had to keep scoring. What's the secret to so many goals this year? Maier: "To be honest, we used to face much tougher challenges than Bayern do now. Looking at the league as a whole, I have to say it's become weaker. We didn't have that many high-scoring wins. But that wasn't down to us; it was down to the better opponents" • So it's not Bayern that are strong, but rather the league that's weak? Maier: "Bayern are strong, but they're simply running away with the rest of the league. If they do lose, it's a real stroke of luck for their opponents. It's just not exciting anymore." By the way, here is illustrated what Dreesen and others are talking about. But only 20.000 club members outside Germany? , only 400 fan clubs outside German speaking countries? Massive potential to be developed
Romics believes that the international development is far from over. There is always more to learn. For example, it is not enough to simply offer the regular product range in other markets. In Asia in particular, there is demand for local products. That’s why the club is developing its own merchandise with local partners in China, South Korea and, most recently, Thailand, such as mobile phone cases featuring FCB mascot ‘Berni’ and plush toys. “These are very popular there.” In China in particular, e-commerce is not only conducted via the classic online store, but also via livestreams on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok. Home shopping in the 21st century – and FC Bayern is right in the middle of it. Romics still sees a lot of growth potential, especially in the USA, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. “We’re only just getting started.”
As director of global commerce, Romics of course looks at sales, costs and profit – but not just that. In case of doubt, the margin does not come first, he stresses: “We don’t just think commercially, but also see ourselves as a calling card of the club.” In other words: fans first. That’s also why delivery costs are sometimes subsidised in order to make fans in the further corners of the world happy. And in case there’s a problem with an order, anyone can make direct contact with FC Bayern to find a solution. In e-commerce it’s clear how much Bayern has expanded beyond its geographical and cultural borders; how much the Munich club has become a home for fans from all over the world. There are currently over 20,000 club members, almost 400 fan clubs with over 30,000 members outside Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “We are a global brand.

No news here: - pre planning application has been approved already last year - now final detailed plans to be made and to be submitted for final approval - those define the cost and construction time and those the budget and vice versa - any capital expenditure (investment) will be spread over the construction period - at this stage it is pure speculation how much will be budgeted and finally spent (there is usually always an overrun at the end) and how this will be financed (out of own liquidity / free cashflow or partially debt as well) - it will certainly be structured in a way that it won’t affect any necessary transfer expenditure - squad cost (abt €450mio), especially wages have not been decreased yet (still abt €325mio) and can only be reduced in 26/27 if leaving players (Goretzka Guerreiro etc) will only be replaced with players with much lower wages and also if loaned out players (Palhinha Boey Peretz Zaragoza) stay off the payroll in whatever form - interesting to note that Freund and Krüger were present and Eberl not - as the one with overall responsibility for sport you would expect him to be there together with Dreesen and Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure Muth.

The renovation of Säbener Straße and construction of a new performance center was originally scheduled to begin last summer after it was approved by the supervisory board - however, the project was then postponed. The work could begin this year. Construction would last three years, requiring the transport of 50,000 truckloads of rubble and with an estimated cost of nearly €100 million. A large portion of the investment is earmarked for a new first team facility, the design of which has been entrusted to former team manager Kathleen Krüger in her new role as "Senior Leading Expert Sport Strategy & Development." Guess that the Kane extension will be a formality considering the amicable relationship. For me it is essential that they extend Olise Pavlovic and Stanisic latest by summer 2027. To ensure this they must start serious negotiations this summer latest. Laimer is not a must do but a take it or leave it situation which must be clarified soon as we otherwise need to sign a replacement this summer. Will be interesting to see how Goretzka and Guerreiro will be replaced. We won’t just suddenly stack the squad with youngsters only with injecting some experience as well. It’s a fine balance. As you rightly pointed out this is and cannot be not a sudden switch as some people suggest. It’s a process which our football management seem to enforce and implement a bit more vigorously than before. Key is obviously that many youngsters are now not only training regularly with the first team, but many seem to understand Kompany s system and principles and thus know what is expected of them once they get minutes on the pitch. I am not sure if those are applied in the youth teams in the same way. Think it’s adamant that the club develops a coherent philosophy and that’s probably why they change the leadership at the campus again. It’s a long term process, the current output get‘s better and better, but I am not sure if we can completely waive yet to buy players outside to replace Boey Palhinha Ito Kim etc

I've seen quite a few that think this abrupt but this is the result of careful squad planning. Bayern Munich are set for the foreseeable future with contracts expiring in: 2027: Harry Kane - Bayern have begun extension discussions with Harry Kane's camp. Konrad Laimer - Bayern have offered a new contract. Laimer has reportedly asked for more which makes it posdible, but unlikely, that he will extend and Bayern have targeted Givairo Read as his replacement 2028: Gnabry, Ito, Kim Min-Jae - All are replaceable depending on the market. 2029: Kimmich, Tah, Diaz, Stanisic, Olise, Urbig, Pavlovic, Bischof, Karl 2030: Davies, Musiala Bayern Munich have the majority of the squad locked down for another 3 or 4 years. This shift is a direct response to the Premier League clubs that pay outrageous fees for outrageously average players.
FCBinside.com - Bayern News@FCBinsideEN

🚨 Bayern are moving away from the 'Supplementary Transfer' model. SPORT1 chief reporter Stefan Kumberger explained on the Die Bayern-Woche podcast: „The deployment of very young players shows that Bayern are on the way to having top stars such as Musiala, Díaz and Kane, but no longer needing transfers such as Sacha Boey or Hiroki Ito in large numbers.“ The strategy is clear: Invest in "Super-Elite" pillars and fill the rest of the 25-man squad with Campus graduates. No more mid-tier squad fillers; just world-class starters and hungry youth with Mia San Mia DNA.

That’s a very important point. We must have enough potential (quality and quantity) to cover any shortfalls due to injuries to avoid those transfers in future. I am more concerned with the quality of our scouting and the selection of players which we consider if we really need to buy. KHR always mentioned we need a 80/20 winning ratio, and clearly in the Salihamidzic years that was not good enough

@tomkat1900 My concern is less with whether I think the approach is good or not (I think it is positive) but whether the bosses will stick to it when everything isn't going perfect. One bad summer or 2 panic signings and you have another Zaragoza, Palhinha, Boey.
