@courtneytenz I remember having conversations back in 2016 about Trumpism and explaining Germany is on the same path. It’s just 10-15 years behind. And…seemingly right on schedule.

@40PercentGerman Whenever I have to I visit the Ausländerbehörde, I weigh if staying is worth it. Not sure it is. I find DE a “static” location. Highs never high, lows never low. It’s just…fine. Been here years but will never “be German,” no matter how well I integrate—which is what it is.

For another year running, #Germany has been labelled as unwelcoming to expats. While some may dislike the results, Germans will surely recognise the issues mentioned. How useful are the opinions of expats, and is it possible for Germany to change? bit.ly/3lNprZv

@thejacquelinek Sometimes even the actual editors at the publications can’t answer these questions. Stories have been delayed months or repositioned because they’d fit better another way.

@frankellett Many of the writers I've noticed/worked with fall under one of these categories: 1. A lot of financial support from family/partner 2. Traveling 200+ days per year 3. Propping up career with copywriting/marketing jobs

I've said it before, but my god, how do full-time freelance travel writers manage it? Rates seem, for some publications, to have halved since I started out 20 years ago...

We were playing in Germany and we decided it would be “so funny” to walk on stage to the Austin Powers theme. We walked onto stage and there was about 80 people just staring silently at us not laughing.

@_Zeets Met a wonderful writer in Sarajevo. Unbelievably intelligent with a translator. Better though, his English consisted mostly of Rolling Stones lyrics. And every time he wanted to cheers he’d say “I can’t get no” and help up his glass. Might’ve also been the best meme-er.

Going to travel the world, searching for writers yet to be discovered, and buying them dinner in exchange for hours of listening to their obscure but insightful theories on literature.
