@OsinachiNuel Whichever code you place him that isn’t a Band 5 equivalent, HO will reject the partners application. Whether as HCA or Auxiliary nurse, it’s less than RQF 6 and will only cover him (July 2025 rule).

So the guy that was offered this HCA role yesterday 😆He’s engaged, already proposed and everything, but not officially married yet. During his briefing, he was told that since he wasn’t married, the sponsorship would only cover him. This man didn’t just accept it quietly. He stood his ground and kept pushing for his partner to be considered too. He even showed us his proposal video, clear as day that this wasn’t just talk, he’s fully committed 🫡 What struck me was that, even though she isn’t his wife yet, he was already thinking ahead, trying to make sure she’s secure and included from the start so there are no issues later. That level of intention and responsibility? It says a lot. After he left, we discussed his case behind the scenes, and the HR handling his recruitment was genuinely impressed. Instead of putting him on a COS that wouldn’t support his partner later, she went the extra mile to secure one that gives him the option to add her in the future. Fast forward to this morning, his request was approved. He’s now been told he can include his partner later. Honestly, moments like this just remind me: men are good people. We may not always get it right, and yes, we can be a lot sometimes, but deep down, a lot of men are trying, really trying to love right, to provide, and to stand up for the people they care about.

There’s something special about seeing someone’s hard work finally pay off. That quiet smile said everything, relief, gratitude, and hope for the future. Happy for this Naija babe and guy wey just land 5yrs CoS for my trust😅 She almost started laughing loudly 😅 I think the new salary band is helping.

In 2024, when I visited Stamford Bridge for the first time, I saw an old friend. I was happy to see a familiar face and almost wanted to ask how I could also get a job at Chelsea. Before I could say anything, he started explaining that he was just doing the work on the side. He tried to make it clear that he was bigger than that. In my mind, I thought: Brother, you don’t have to explain anything to me. It’s honest work. Why do you feel the need to say it’s only something you do on the side? I think we, Nigerians have been culturally and inherently conditioned to look down on certain job roles and occupations simply because of status. I can’t fully explain it, but I wish we placed more value on labor, especially honest labor.

The way Nigerians bastardize Care Work in the UK 🇬🇧 makes me wonder if classism was transported there too. During my last visit, a friend of mine was so ashamed to open up that he does Care Work. I was really pissed off. As a CARER or HCA, you are a core part of the MDT just as the Nurse or Doctor.

No. I'm not saying one should forgive a cheating partner. And even if one forgives, forgiving doesn't mean welcoming the person back into your life. All I'm saying is that: 1. Situations are different, so we shouldn't make sweeping generalizations. 2. Forgiveness (if one chooses to) should be because of real change and effort seen in the guilty partner. 3. Giving a really sorry and repentant partner a second chance is real strength and may even turn out well for the union.

The married man
The married man@marriedmn·
Divorce rates are high in this generation for one simple reason. People don't understand what marriage actually is. Social media made everyone believe there's always someone better out there, a richer man, a prettier woman, a more exciting life, but comparison kills loyalty. People want weddings, not marriages. They'll spend months planning a ceremony and zero time learning how to communicate when things get hard. Nobody knows how to argue anymore. They yell, they shut down, they run instead of learning how to fight for each other. Money pressure exposes weak foundations. Instead of building together, couples turn on each other, men stop leading, women stop respecting their men, temptation is everywhere. Now everyone uses therapy words to escape accountability. Everything is toxic, everything is trauma. Nothing is ever their fault. There's no community pressure to stay married anymore. No elders saying work it out. Just friends saying leave. You deserve better. Kids became optional, sacrifice became outdated and vows became suggestions. Marriage used to mean I'll suffer with you. Now it means I'll stay as long as I'm happy. And that's why divorce is high. Because people don't know how to suffer together. They only know how to quit when excitement is no longer there. We are in the trenches!!

@MairoEnoch @ThaBoyYom Exactly! Even if she brings a child that isn't yours home, men should have the divine strength to accept her back and give her a second chance.

@ThaBoyYom So respect only exists if there are no second chances? Know this: Walking away is one kind of strength. Working through something difficult, if both people are willing, is another.
