Science fiction nerds are gonna hate me for saying this but the Great Filter is that interstellar travel is probably more or less impossible and there is no reason to come up with any other explanation for that.

one of the most counterintuitive things about space is that springs don't work there so you have to come up with different solutions

@DJSnM @i2cjak It can be pretty tricky to get manufacturing tolerances tight when laser welding complex things, especially if you are welding all around an object such that the laser starts and ends at the same place. But it can be very powerful once you get your process down.

@i2cjak The latest issue of 'Sport Pilot' has a whole article on why people shouldn't be using laser welding to build planes right now. I have no idea how much of this conclusion is based on worries about new tech in safety critical applications.

@FrameworkPuter Please make one, I recently tried to find a "right to repair" printer, and found only older models which accidentally allow for it, rather than any modern printer which publicly embraces it.

One of you must have sabotaged our office printer to force us to make one. There is no way HP is actually shipping printers that are this broken.
