Great to host Randy Clarke (@wmataGM), GM & CEO of @wmata at @CapitalOneArena for the @Capitals game last night! 🚇 Metro plays a crucial role in connecting the DMV, just as DC sports teams bring fans and communities together. With the reinvigoration of the Metro, we’re all working to reimagine and revitalize downtown DC – together.
Randy Clarke@wmataGM

Nice @Capitals win tonight and then quick clearing of crowds and trip home on @wmata 🔴🚇. #ALLCAPS #wmata

@connordpeters When I’m 70, I’m going to have a fifth bedroom addition (empty, of course) built in your honor.

If you're in your 70s and sitting on a 4 bedroom house that you don't even occupy half of, I think you should be disincentivized to holding onto it If nothing else, take your profits while the bubble is still there and move into a smaller house? Lots of great townhouses

@jacoobaloo I'm saying it out loud: I don't think it's a great idea to force seniors out of their homes to meet some ideological definition of fairness.

Crowded House "Gravity Stairs" Australian chart it's nose dived quite a lot this week so no real signs of a resurrection. Week #5. Dropping from #169 to #229. (so a drop of 60 spots). Sales: LP/CD-116 units. Digital-13. Streams-25.

@DrainALX I think townhomes are best with other THs. A TH "sized" home in a SFH neighborhood would be better built as a duplex, keeping the overall "look" of a SFH. As I said above, I think reasonable people have no issue with a duplex. Where I draw the line is a "triplex" or "quadplex."

@tonyfdesign Really, I’m happy these signs exist because it highlights a clear distinction in candidates this race needs. It allows everyone, including those of us who can’t afford a SFH, to see some around us for who they are. Thank you for indulging my questions. It’s been helpful!

Yikes-This comment is actually a great ex. of classist. Those of us in t-homes, condos, duplexes & apartments work equally hard for our families but some have to fight to have basics, like no sewage backing up into our home when it rains. Must be nice to have this much privilege

@DrainALX I’d like to see single family home neighborhoods remain just that. But a duplex could work on my street. Although a “triplex” or “quadplex” is a terrible idea. Our single family lots weren’t designed for that increased density.

@DrainALX I have no problem whatsoever with a townhouse/s, or anyone who lives in one.

@tonyfdesign Honest question, why are people like me (who live in a townhouse) not welcome in your world?

Learned recently some mock Del Ray by calling us the “Del Ray Mafia”. Happy to be here, where neighbors in townhomes, duplexes, and apartments are welcome, instead of living near people who apparently fear us. Apparently some think you have to be rich to add value to the city. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@j_huskey @Alex_Goyette I agree that the changes are “feel good” moves that do not address affordable housing. Not to mention a “quadplex” on a small 1/4 acre lot is ridiculous.

@Alex_Goyette Hi Alex, I would have considered it if there was a way to ensure some ownership options for lower/moderate income Alexandrians or some other way to meet the need for affordability. To me, and I think many, this was an ideological move rather than good public policy.

I said it. I meant it. I'll say it again. The policy needs to fit the need and eliminating SFZ only helps sellers and developers -- not middle-income buyers or neighborhoods. alxnow.com/2024/05/14/zon…

At ATL to catch a Delta flight to TPA. Today is the DAY! Picking up my new Road Vessel! First flight as a non-employee. Feels kinda weird.

@FitRugby @AlexandriaEcon Also, I don’t accept the premise. We had countless community meetings, listening sessions, small-group discussions, public hearings, etc. Had Richmond allowed the conversation to continue, that engagement would have continued as well.

The City has provided an update on the Potomac Yard Proposal. I am grateful for Stephanie Landrum and our City Manager as well as our entire @AlexandriaEcon and City teams. They worked tirelessly to give Alexandria a more stable and prosperous future. alexandriava.gov/news-citywide/…
