🇫🇷🇮🇳 France just drew a hard line… and it hits India’s airpower strategy directly. Paris is refusing to give India access to Rafale’s core source codes, which means New Delhi cannot independently modify the jet’s most critical systems, including its radar, mission computer, and electronic warfare suite. Why this matters: Without source code access, India can’t freely integrate its own weapons or upgrade systems without French approval, locking it into long-term dependence. And this comes at a crucial moment, as India was considering buying up to 114 more Rafales in a deal worth around $36 billion, while its air force is already below required strength. So now it has two options: -Buy Rafale and stay tied to French control… -Or pivot to alternatives like Russia’s Su-57, which is offering full source code access and deeper technological control.
