v2.3.1 is live, which includes the 2024 US data and the Philippines data! This also includes the globe view and bug fixes for European environment data and missing wind barbs for all environment data on some machines. tornadoarchive.com/home/tornado...

2024 was a very busy year for tornadoes in the US, so it's taken a while to get all the data processed. We're in the final stages of this, and the 2024 US data will hopefully be released soon. We're also working on getting updated European data from ESWD, hopefully this summer.

We've also been working on redoing the environment data, including our own CAPE calculations and laying the groundwork to add point-and-click soundings in a future version. We hoped to release this with the 2024 data, but it's become a much bigger project than anticipated.

50 years ago today, the Super Outbreak of 1974 occurred. A very large and powerful storm system spurred 148 tornadoes across 13 states and one Canadian province, 7 of them rated F5 and 23 of them rated F4. At least 310 people were killed and over 5000 were injured.

As an add-on from yesterday, a bug in the database development pipeline caused more detailed tracks from pre-1950 tornadoes (e.g. for Grazulis' F5 events) to be overwritten in the web version over the last several months. This will be corrected in the upcoming update.
