I am curious. A man who was once governor and has spent decades in business somehow ends up with people he met in 2022 as his main political allies and aides. Where are his old friends? Where are his former aides? Where are the people who watched him govern? Why is he surrounded by socio-political neophytes, clout chasers and current affairs influencers? What does it say about a man that not one person from his years in office or his years in business has followed him here? That silence from his past is the loudest thing about his present. When you think about it, it does say everything really.

I was in the Labour Party Situation Room that day, and there was no 11 million votes anywhere. This is how you people fabricate numbers and deceive others online. Deceitful people.
Politrician@Franeb

Again both APC and Atiku's people saw the 11 Million Votes for Obi in real time. You think Tinubu is scared of squaring Atiku? Tinubu has had no sleep since 2023, he's focused on ensuring that just Peter Obi is not on a ticket and if he is Atiku must be on one too. It's clear

And FCMB is still standing today. Otunba Subomi Balogun is also known as the grandfather of investment banking. Though he is late, he has 4 children who carried on his legacy Bolaji Balogun (first son) — the co-founder of Airtel Nigeria, Chairman of Unilever Nigeria Plc, former Chairman of Lafarge Africa and MD/CEO of Chapel Hill Denham. Ladi Balogun — Group CEO of FCMB Group Jide Balogun — CEO of PRIMROSE Development Company, the real estate arm of family business Gboyega Balogun — CEO of CSL Stockbrokers Limited

During the Nigerian Civil War, many Igbo people fled cities like Lagos, leaving behind houses and property. Alex Ekwueme (then a young architect) left his house in Apapa. His neighbour, Otunba Subomi Balogun, a banker did not seize the property. Instead, he removed intruders from the house, renovated it and rented it out while Ekwueme was away. He carefully kept all the rent proceeds. When the war ended and Ekwueme returned, Balogun handed back the house to him and gave him a full envelope of all the rent collected Ekwueme was reportedly shocked, because many others lost their properties during that period. About a decade later, Ekwueme became Vice President under President Shehu Shagari (Second Republic, 1979–1983). Subomi Balogun wanted to establish his own bank but faced significant hurdles at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Officials resisted because it was unprecedented for a private Nigerian citizen to own a commercial bank without foreign partners; there were also political suspicions (some alleged he might use it to finance certain politicians). After failing to get traction through official channels, Balogun turned to his old friend. One Sunday after Church Service, he and his wife "cornered" Ekwueme at the Cathedral Church in Marina, Lagos. They physically grabbed Ekwueme and his wife's clothing to get past security and plead their case. Ekwueme listened, reassured him, and instructed him to come to the Federal Executive Council meeting he would preside over (as Shagari was absent). That very Thursday, the Finance Minister called Balogun to confirm that the license had been approved on Ekwueme's instruction. This paved the way for FCMB and reportedly opened doors for other indigenous banks. Balogun later opened an FCMB branch in Ekwueme's hometown of Oko (Anambra State) in continuation of their friendship. We love ourselves, it is the politicians that are dividing us.

On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for the approval of Phase 1A of the Lagos Green Line Rail Project. This project is a significant milestone for our state. The Green Line will span approximately 68 kilometres, linking Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, with about 17 stations serving key locations including Victoria Island, Ajah, and the wider Lekki corridor. It will serve up to 500,000 passengers daily at inception with the capacity to increase to about one million over time. With the ability to move up to 35,000 passengers per hour in each direction, the line will reduce travel time and relieve pressure on our road network. This project reflects our commitment to improving mobility, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for Lagosians. We value the continued support of the Federal Government and remain focused on delivering a system that meets the needs of our people.
