@MuseumCommodore I think Wings was their finest hour, because it was more of a complete game rather than just the collection of mini games that they favoured in their other games.

Cinemaware created stunning computer games for the Commodore 64 and Amiga. Favorite game? Me: Defender of the Crown

@MuseumCommodore It’s good, not quite Mario good but a very good effort and filled a hole on the C64.

It started as a quick cash-in on the Mario craze but became a C64 cult classic! Rainbow Arts’ cheeky UK box art taunted, “The brothers are history!” — and Nintendo noticed. After the May 1987 release (C64 original first), they sent a strongly worded complaint detailing the similarities to Super Mario Bros. No full lawsuit, but an out-of-court settlement followed: the game was yanked from stores almost immediately. The UK physical copies are now ultra-rare collector’s items, yet piracy made sure the game survived and thrived! Legendary C64 composer Chris Hülsbeck (who later scored Turrican) created the music for the game; some say it made the game the mega hit it was. It certainly helped! But here is the question we need to answer: Mario Bros vs Giana Sisters, which did you prefer? Share your answer below👇

@MuseumCommodore The Amiga 1000, it was a huge leap. The Atari 8-bits released 3 years earlier than the C64 and were comparable in a lot of ways, and superior in some.

@EISMANone Yeah, the CD32 version had the ambient music tracks and you could also put your own CD in and play that.

@totalwormage Too bad, I thought you might find a way like the guys in the game Turrican. I don't even know if the CD32 version of Worms had music. But if it did, it came from the CD.

Worms has had a significant cultural impact, becoming a staple in multiplayer gaming sessions, known for its replayability and the community it fostered. It has inspired numerous sequels and spin-offs over the years, but the original on the Commodore Amiga was groundbreaking.

@EISMANone Worms uses all 4 channels for the sound effects on the Amiga, so any music would get obliterated in game unfortunately.

@totalwormage I hope you'll release the update for the wonderful Worms DC. Will it also include music in the game? I wonder why you didn't include it in the game back then. Worms DC is installed, so it wouldn't have been a problem.

@Geenimetsuri @MuseumCommodore It’s a genre called Artillery games, they’ve been around since the 8-bit days. I was a fan since I played one on my ZX Spectrum. I like to think I put enough of a new spin on things to create something new in the genre. And I don’t think the game would have endured otherwise.

If you could only keep 5 Commodore 64 games forever on your shelf, what are they? Mine: 1. Bruce Lee 2. Loderunner 3. The Last Ninja 4. Boulder Dash 5. Pool of Radiance. Reply with your unbreakable top 5—let's see the overlaps!

The first review of Worms, in CU Amiga. They were big fans of the game. When we first showed them it, they kept the power on in their offices over the weekend so they could continue playing on the Monday after we had taken the disks away 💾

@MuseumCommodore From a developer perspective the Amiga’s custom chipset was a joy to develop for. It made coding fun, and felt like anything was possible.

@MuseumCommodore The C16 and Plus/4 were odd products to bring to market. Step forward in some areas but a step back in others. C64 was such a juggernaut that they were never going to make an impact or attract developer support with their limitations. Commodore would do this again with the Amiga

The Commodore 16s TED chip delivered a stunning 121-color palette—way more than the C64's 16—though it skipped sprites for cost savings. Who owned one?
