We are very sad to hear Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. The five-time Oscar nominee played gameskeeper Kincade in SKYFALL (2012).

Making these personal connections to events like this makes it that much more real, and makes me realize that these were real people with real stories who walked where we walked.

For as long as I can remember my 4th of July was in Clear Lake, IA. They took off from Mason City, IA, where my grandparents have lived for longer than I’ve been alive.
They were heading for Fargo, ND, where I go to school.
This is why I study history; it’s all around us(cont.)

If Buddy Holly were alive today, he'd be 82. Instead he died in 1959 — sixty years ago today — "the day the music died." The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and the pilot also died. They were heading for Fargo. Holly hired the plane after heating problems developed on his tour bus.
