Why do we have to make someone the next Dale, the next Jeff, the next Richard, the next Bobby etc. Also, when placing that burden on a certain driver - whenthey fail, it’s looked at even worse because they didn’t become that “next” one.

@Toby_Christie Nobody is "the next Dale Earnhardt." Even Dale Jr. should not have been asked to carry that load of expectation. There was only one Dale Sr., and there will never be another.

My take: Comparing Carson Hocevar to Dale Earnhardt due to their aggressive driving styles is a fun novelty, but until Hocevar starts winning races, we should stop trying to force the narrative that he's "the next Dale Earnhardt." Read More: tobychristie.com/nascar/cup-ser…
