@Vottoast Are these bad matchups for affinity? You definitely have to include plans for random decks, especially the first few rounds, and in formats like historic where random decks have a higher probability

1-3 out on Day 1 with Affinity. Think I really misread the meta, prepared (and teched) for Goyfs and Dimir. Should have just played Jund — live and learn.

Since this has been getting attention, here's the other side of the coin: sweet cards that only exist in this format. Porcine Portent🐷 Juggernaut Peddler👨‍🔧 Aquatic Subtlety 🐟 Landlore Navigator🗺️ Grave Expectations 🪦 Swiftspear's Teachings💔 Lurrus of the Dream-Den😺

I've been known to like Historic, but this cycle has made me realize that there's nothing less fun than cards that used to be great getting nerfed. If a card is truly too broken for the format, just ban it!

What do you guys like? Birthing Ritual yawg or Cauldron yawg? I like cauldron yawg more as it's great vs current decks. Ok affinity mu feels bad, but they lose to their deck sometimes.

After the qualifier, it's interesting to see that yawg and phoenix did the best. Nice that phoenix got figured out among many other decks

@GuI_Dukat Very well analysed, especially the affinity part. Re auras, I tried to play auras a bit, but jund and dimir just have too much interaction.

Last couple of months I have started to play much less for rank than before. From now on I will try to get just top 250 and test decks more with friends and other formats like Standard and Modern. Testing with friends is the best thing about magic for me :)

@pachumain @fireshoes Thanks! I think the deck really needs 1 drop creatures for the spaceship and drum, and they have to be artifacts for the 8 pinnacle effects, I scoured the legal options and that's the best I found

@trail_of_magic @fireshoes A last thing have you tested a gingerbrute instead of one fugitive? the haste can matter with the amount of improvised arsenal you play.

@pachumain @fireshoes Yea I intentionally did not play memory guardian or simulacrum synthesizer since I tried to be much faster, hopefully that helps against sweepers

@trail_of_magic @fireshoes Tried a temur version with polinator and memory guardian and try to snowball t2. But i died a lot on wrath/sunflock bird. Let’s see if the legion extrider token are more resilient on that or if the tap can steal win with cranial plating.

@pachumain @fireshoes glglglglgl if you can set up and spot lethals you can get a lot of clutch wins, more with this deck than most decks

I've seen this trend so many times that I can't ignore it anymore: here's my 9 cards! 1st row: the Beginner Era; 🫠 2nd row: the Modern Era; 💪 3rd row: the MTGArena Era. 🤓

@karsten_frank No decks with very few players did well? Or were they intentionally excluded?

@Huschenmtg Even if the deck doesn't have a lot of angels, I think their point is it would be beneficial to the competitive Magic community to try to appeal to the casual crowd more by creating archetype names like "Angel Fliers" for example.
