Most people associate the name Blizzard with Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo - and why wouldn't they? All three are massive legends of gaming history. However, the very first game created by Blizzard (then known as Silicon & Synapse) was The Lost Vikings in 1993. It's a mix between classic platforming, action, puzzles, and teamwork with wonderfully quirky Viking charm. The game featureed an innovative co-op mechanic that always reminded me a bit of Lemmings (at its core). You control three Vikings who were kidnapped by the alien emperor Tomator for his intergalactic zoo: Erik the Swift (runs fast and jumps far), Baleog the Fierce (fights with sword and bow), and Olaf the Stout (blocks with his shield and can float with it). You switch between them to solve clever environmental puzzles (bridges, traps, doors, cages, etc.) and cooperate to reach the exits. Because each Viking has unique skills, coordinating them smartly is essential - one Viking alone can never make it. An excellent game for its time, I feel that The Lost Vikings showed early on that Blizzard had brilliant developers and creative ideas.

@tramstalker @Ulfsire Well, it depends on scale to be honest. Assets from the unity store + a handful of sprites? Sure. All original assets for a game in the size of final fantasy game? No. You become the sole owner of the game, but not a solo dev at that point. That is how I view it.

Seeing a lot of comments in here saying that artists / musicians shouldn’t be credited because they aren’t developers, that only coding is development. Gross
