Kids have views that are often ideological. Greta’s fossil fuels, Will’s Nuclear whatever it is, good on them for being brave enough to have their say. But if you think calling them names or abuse for their views or mistakes makes you virtuous. Sorry you’re a grubby lowlife.

Markets are not natural, spontaneous or free. They are legal, institutional and political creations of the state. Without law, money, regulation, wages, accounting standards and trust, markets collapse into monopoly, coercion and extraction. In this New Year’s Day video, I explain why the neoliberal myth of “free markets” is not just wrong, but actively destructive — and why rebuilding the state, rethinking capital and restoring democratic accountability must define our economic direction for 2026. Markets are tools. It's up to society to set their purpose. youtu.be/vAkkZXfxb9Y?si…

🚨 Absolutely terrific news - Mount Warning is officially reopening! See link below. Mt Warning is one of the most beautiful National Parks in NSW … but Matt Kean closed it because of highly contested claims. Mount Warning does have Aboriginal heritage value … but does that mean no one is allowed to climb it unless they were an Aboriginal male from a certain tribe? Matt Kean said yes … but many local Aboriginals said it was so sacred they wanted all people to take in its sacredness. The closure has damaged the local economy which will now rebound as Mount Warning is restored as one of NSW’s preeminent tourist destinations. Seems odd to describe a mountain as charismatic but once you see it, you’ll agree. I would like to thank the following for their unrelenting campaigning: Mr Sturt Davis Boyd (local elder) The Hon Mark Latham MLC Ben Fordham - 2GB Geoff Provest MP Cr Kimberley Hone Craig Kelly Dr Harry Creamer The owners and patrons of the ‘Mount Warning Hotel’ in Uki. A special thank you to Marc Hendrickx - President of ‘Save our Summits’ who lead the campaign and encouraged me to raise this issue whenever I could in parliament. And a big thank you to the NSW Environment Minister Penny Sharp for making a commonsense decision. One disappointing point is that’ll take 18 months to restore the dilapidated track. Yes it is in need of repair and so bureaucrats need 18 months to fix it. If the locals were allowed to voluntarily repair it they’d do it for free and get it ready in a month or two … but regardless today is a good day. Common sense is making a comeback! @LibertariansNSW @RealMarkLatham @righttoclimb @BenFordhamLive @craigkellyAFEE @PennySharpemlc

@MarkoMatvikov Our society needs to have an open and honest discussion about choice, sacrifice, compromise and opportunity cost. We set up future generations to fail if we continue the false narrative about “having it all”.

The Minnesota childcare scandal highlights a few things that should already be obvious to anybody paying attention: 1. Political partisanship is more powerful than literally billions of taxpayer dollars being defrauded - which is also likely just the tip of the iceberg 2. The mainstream media isn’t reliable for real news - and then their instincts are to play cover for their side of politics or attack citizen journalists when they do their work for them 3. Australians should be looking at this and raising alarm bells about the strong likelihood of mass fraud in our expansive social spending system - but refer back to points 1 & 2 above

@JaneCaro Most like Jane replace God for other nihilistic cults. Preach virtue-isms as more righteous than others. It’s really hypocrisy on steroids. In contrast most agnostics are less attracted to cults.

Here’s hoping Trump, Zelensky and our European allies can secure a ceasefire in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. The alternative is an ongoing territorial war, the further crushing of the Russian economy, death and misery for millions of Ukrainians and Russians.

Thank you, Keir, for the constant coordination! I started my morning in Florida today with a detailed phone call with UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. We discussed preparations for the meeting with President Trump, as well as all our contacts with European partners. I informed him on the situation on the frontline and on the consequences of Russian strikes. We greatly value the United Kingdom’s support. We will stay in contact!

@diarmuidmccoy What do I say about being in a cult? My virtue is more virtuous than your virtue. Therefore anything I say or do is more virtuous. Yes, I live a very lonely existence.

If our politicians had any morals or ethics they would end identitarianism. Aussies can’t unite when there is this never ending need to create different rules for different people. If you want to be treated differently, go to that place. It shouldn’t be here.
Marko Matvikov@MarkoMatvikov

Criticise Netanyahu all you want. Criticise any leader of any nation engaged in any action you disagree with. Protest against your government for their position on any issue. But don’t use any of that as an excuse to incite or commit violence towards Australians. If you can’t subscribe to that, you don’t belong here. And you should be imprisoned or deported to wherever your loyalties lie.

@ChrisEconomist @TMFScottP 30+ years in energy logistics. This is complicated. renewables are 💯 reliant on Gas. Gas is many factors more expensive logistically to transport. If you don’t want Coal or clean energy like nuclear you need a res of fuel. Question do you want?

My thoughts on both the right level of resource rents and a (proper) Australian Sovereign Wealth Fund, in a single place (I might add more, over time): We have been blessed to inherit extraordinary mineral wealth. It is a one-time thing: once it’s extracted, it’s gone. A 🧵

@TracyWesterman After 6+ years of identity politics, with the sole purpose was to divide Australians we now need to unite behind one of the chief architects. Are you entirely delusional? Akin to uniting behind Himmler or Stalin if they decided to champion human rights. Bonkers.

Division in times of crisis has NEVER defined Australia. It’s not who we are. During Port Arthur our leaders come together for the good of the country. Lindt Cafe - leadership on both sides did the same. In every crisis our governments have stood firmly together and the community followed that example. The only people to blame for the Bondi Shootings are the evil human beings who pulled the trigger. Absolutely #IStandwithAlbo

Do Australians support gun control? Yes. If additional gun control could prevent Bondi would you support it? Most say yes. The question we should ask. Do we have adequate laws, if so why did they fail?
Simon Banks@SimonBanksHB

"Australians across the political spectrum want a crackdown on gun laws, from restrictions on who can own guns to the number of weapons a person can have,,," Australians think reform is necessary and clearly not a distraction smh.com.au/politics/feder…

These people don’t understand their own hypocrisy. “We must fight identity politics with identity politics”. They actively promote their own villain narrative, then hypocritically demand unity. All these idiots need to buy a mirror.

Australia is one of the most migrant diverse countries in the world and we are richer for it. 51.5% of Australians are first or second generation migrants & that includes many in the Coalition & One Nation. The biggest threat to our safety by far is still white men. #auspol
