When I just started freelance writing on LinkedIn, my first gig paid ₦3,000 for 1,000 words. As in you'll do research then write 1,2,3,4... up to 1000 words and take ₦3k home. 😭 Even then it wasn't all that. But my mother always said to me, "Eki, your breakthrough is coming." I mean, I knew that greater heights were inevitable as long as I kept moving but every time my mother said those words to me, I had this burst of motivation. So on the days where I received ₦3,000 naira as payment, I held onto her words. Sometimes, beyond your own conviction, you need a supporter in your life. Someone that'll acknowledge your efforts and encourage you. Got anyone like that in your life? You should probably thank them.
