@ShamsCharania Serious question. Can Luka just be on the court for the tip off. Immediately foul someone and leave after 1 second. Would that count for giving him 65 games @Tyler_Fulghum

Statement from Luka Doncic’s agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball: "This season, Luka Dončić has performed at a historic level, leading the league in scoring, carrying the Lakers to third place in the Western Conference and placing himself in the middle of one of the most tightly contested MVP races in memory. To ensure that Luka’s incredible accomplishments this season are rightly honored and he can be considered for the league’s end-of-season awards, we intend to apply for an “Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge” to the 65-game rule. Luka missed two games this season for the birth of his second child in Slovenia. His daughter was born on Dec. 4 on another continent, and yet he was back in the United States competing with his team on Dec. 6. Luka has gone to great lengths to show up for his team and this league this season. His record-breaking season deserves to be noted in the history books, despite last night’s unfortunate injury and other extraordinary circumstances. We look forward to working with the NBAPA and the league office to ensure a fair outcome in this matter."

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is out indefinitely due to a left hamstring injury, sources tell me and @mcten. He will miss the remainder of the regular season and his status is uncertain beyond that.

@moseskagan @bobbyfijan There is no reason to be ashamed that we did things that we thought protected the health of children and other people. Yes, it turns out to be incredibly unnecessary.

@moseskagan The murderer had committed two similar armed robberies on people in the 5 days prior to the murder. On camera, same outfit, people sitting in their cars in drive throughs. He wasn’t a priority until he killed someone. They had him identified caught and arrested in 12 hours.

@moseskagan The horrible downstream effects: that guy eventually hurts or kills someone. A 27 year old former employee was murdered this week by a random person. Just sitting in Starbucks drive through.

Los Angeles, 2026: On Tuesday, a guy was repeatedly slamming on all the doors of the businesses in our little strip mall. He disappeared for a while, then came back and slammed on my plate glass office window w a metal rod. I called 911. Was busy the first 2-3x times I called, then finally picked up and put me on 3-4 min hold, then immediately transferred me to police non-emergency, which kept me on hold for another ~10 minutes until I gave up and hung up.

@TheWarriorsTalk It seems that KP is on an expiring contract, which would give GSW some more flexibility for an acquisition this summer right?

Here's the breakdown heading into today: Best outcome: Giannis Worst outcome: No moves, JK still on team. Final outcome: Porzingis, no more JK. The problem here was that our sights were set so high that anything other than getting Giannis was gonna be a huge letdown 😭

@iononrecourse Once you’ve operated a restaurant that has stairs like this or multiple levels you tell your broker “never show me another two story restaurant ever again”

I think we’ll see more of this: A new restaurant in the ground floor of a Sunbelt office building, but they added a mezzanine in a space that was only 12’5” floor to bottom of joist. Snug, but it works. Reduced their space (and rent) by 40%.

@DonnybrookStl @sarahfenske The latest office vacancy number is all driven by anthem moving from downtown west to downtown, keeping the same number of people but less space. So Wendy’s point doesn’t make sense and we also see that in spending data. Can I write a column for the newsletter on this?!?!

The most important thing you need to understand about why health insurance is broken: The Medical Loss Ratio (MLR). The ACA laws created a crazy, unbelievably perverse incentive. The MLR mandates that insurance companies spend at least 80% of premium dollars on care. Which means they get to keep 20% of every dollar paid out. Think about that for a second. The more of YOUR money they spend, the more of YOUR money they get to keep. How screwed up is that?? Consider this simple (real) example: You get a flu test at a hospital, you get a bill for $10,000 for that flu test. Your insurance gladly pays it, because they get to keep 20% ($2000) of that 'care.' If they get billed for the correct amount, $20, they only get to keep $4. The incentive for everyone in the food chain is for you to get overbilled, order tests you need, get procedures you don't need, get meds you don't need. This is the crux of why health insurance is so broken in America.
Chef Andrew Gruel@ChefGruel

Last night on CNN discussing the ACA subsidy extension. The truth is, both sides know the ACA hasn’t worked as promised. Costs keep rising, outcomes aren’t improving, and families are paying more every year. Insurance companies, PBMs, and Big Pharma are doing just fine, the rest of us aren’t. Throwing more subsidies at a broken system won’t fix it. We need to rebuild healthcare from the ground up with patients not corporations at the center @Elex_Michaelson

@ChefGruel That ACA is obviously not perfect but one has had a better plan. It also has worked as promised for several things: covering people with preexisting conditions among other things. Healthcare and insurance costs were rising at higher annual rates prior to the ACA. Chart by Gemini

@JoeVirayNBA Besides total points, the lack of 3 pt shooting affects the perception. Warriors fans are used to shooters. He is worth his contract. It’s still tough having big contracts with him and draymond leaves a big hole that needs to be filled with shooting/scoring, but no money left

Tell me, why is he overpaid? Is it because he's not averaging 30 points? Is contract value solely based on points per game and not creating good offense off of advantage creation where it's not his fault if others can't take advantage of the advantages he creates? Would you rather pay an empty-calories scorer who gets his but doesn't create advantages nor attempts to create rhythm for his teammates? I really want to know the answer, because I haven't heard any logical reasoning behind why some people think that's the case.
Osvaldo E. Gil@ogildelgado

@JoeVirayNBA Butler is playing good basketball, and the problem isn't him directly, but his contract. The Warriors overpaid him and now don't have the money to address other deficiencies on the roster. Now the only option is to trade young players and draft picks to fix them.

@bavedikian Do you have a job or do you work from home? Why are you at Costco at 2pm on a weekday to see all these people

Go to Costco on a weekday at 2pm. You’ll see a bunch of young people in workout clothes casually shopping. You might think, “What are these people doing? Do they not have jobs?” They do have jobs. They work from home.

USC President Kim asked me for my thoughts about Charlie Kirk at USC’s Democracy Day celebration. There’s something more important than my message in this video. It’s what you don’t hear. No heckling. No disrespect. No shouting. I know that social media shows us the worst of humanity, and a few people celebrating a death will get more attention than hundreds of respectful people. Don’t let these companies and the rage influencers that profit from them convince you the worst of us are the most of us. They are a tiny minority that gets too much attention because anger makes you post, repost, and like. This was an audience of almost 500 students, and zero disrespect. That’s how most of the real world outside of the internet is. If you find yourself falling for the anger, go out in the real world and make yourself human again.
