Trade finance is a $15 trillion-a-year industry. It still runs 80% on paper.
A single deal can involve 20-plus documents and 9 to 11 parties, and it takes 7 to 10 days to settle.
In the age of AI, that should sound impossible. It isn't. It's the reality most of global commerce still operates in.
The part people miss: this isn't really a money problem.
It's a PRICING RISK PROBLEM.
Nobody could price the full chain, so small- and mid-size businesses got left out or got stuck financing/factoring their invoices at 25% APY.
With blockchain, smart contracts, proof of goods, a bill of lading, and a vault structure, we've cut that in half.
A domestic example is US trucking. Largest employer in the country, 90 days to get paid, and our partners are taking issuers from 25% down to 10-12%.
The bottom-up approach XDC and our partners are solving is what we refer to as the SME 2.5T financing gap, and stablecoins were the last piece of the puzzle.
The Genius Act and MiCA made them legitimate tender on the balance sheet, and that's what finally let us close the loop on the settlement.
That's also why XDC brought Contour Network into the fold, which the bank consortium HSBC, Citi, and Standard Chartered helped start. They digitized the documents but never got the settlement rails. We're rebuilding it on XDC.
I said it in the interview, and I'll say it here.
This is one of the few blockchain use cases that actually works, and it's durable. Once you've seen it, going back to paper feels like trading your iPhone for a BlackBerry. Nobody's doing that.
