@Klarden @GOGcom Square's probably "testing the DRM-free waters" with these - that's why I picked up the whole lot of them (even though I very likely am only going to play the VIII Remaster, simply cannot put up with the character design in III & IV 3D, as well as IX).

@GOGcom Worst versions of III and IV and barely playable versions of VIII and IX. Square, come on, Pixel Remasters are out, fantastic and should be DMR-free on GOG by this point :/

@WholesomeRaf @GOGcom Being relatively new to the genre as well (just recently picked up Expedition 33 on GOG) and approaching it from a purely visuals-oriented perspective I'd say VIII (simply because I cannot stand the "big head" character designs in the III & IV 3D remakes, as well in IX).

@O107_ @Wario64 Highly unlikely that GOG has that kind of leverage. What's more likely is that they simply offered to do all the heavy lifting with fixing/ensuring compatibility with and stability on modern hardware/OS's and Atari agreed to it. Hence the developer co-credit on the store pages.

@Wario64 This now marks quite a few games removed from Steam before being added to GOG's preservation program. So are these publishers removing them of their own volition, or is GOG asking them to remove them?

@GOGcom Would be cool if you would add whole Splinter Cell series too. Cause, come on! They are long gone, unless somebody preserves them. I mean, I have first 3 games preserved for myself, but it was a pain to find them and download them, especially when you ran out of money.
