@LisaZane15 I would love doing this so much. Given how important good communication is for a product manager, this should give recruiters a lot of data for initial screening.
- You can see their LinkedIn profile so a full resume in addition to that isn't required
- Ask applicants to record a 5 minute video (i.e. on Loom) talking about who they are, their experiences, and why they're a good fit and do the initial screening based on this
Current PM job hiring processes take a really long time, and waste valuable energy and resources (on both the hiring team + candidate's part).
One idea I'd like to test when building out my own team:
Video applications vs. resumes 👇
"If we think we can solve a problem in technology, we’re looking at it wrong... we can’t solve issues that have to do we power and that have to do with control, within a technology"
@biancawylie is a #digitalequity champion helping NCF celebrate 30 years as a #communityisp
Developers often spend 10%+ of their time fielding data questions from non-tech teams.
😻 Trevor solves this problem, empowering your whole team to get answers from your database data (no SQL needed!)
💪 Last mile self-service analytics, done right.
@AbdullahiArebi More like if it’s difficult to change, then how certain are we that this is the right path? Is there a way to accomplish this that’s simpler, in case we need to pivot? Getting to those answers will help you know if the effort is worth the outcome.
@AbdullahiArebi Ask your engineer to help you understand the trade offs and the reversibility of the decision. What do you gain and lose on this path, and how easy is it to change if you discover you need to? Clarify how proposal matches or fails product needs.
Sometimes "the cause" itself will make people attempt to achieve something together.
In many (most?) cases though, someone(s) needs to continually convene people so that people attempt to achieve something together.
@LisaZane15 My ultimate weapon for hiring is how candidates handle AMBIGUITY.
Unclear situations. No context to start with. Open to interpretations. Invites assumptions.... are my favorite kind of situational questions.
PM Hiring Managers:
What are your CRUCIAL go-to questions you ask candidates that you feel most efficiently screen for their capacity to excel in the role you're hiring for?
Considering switching from @FidoSolutions because of poor service, but then where do I go? It's not like anyone else is really any better, right? #cellphoneracketeering
This article intersects with so many of my interests. Hoping we can standardize "community science" over "citizen science", for all those who live in a community but might not be citizens. getpocket.com/explore/item/c…
@johncutlefish In my org, our PdM practice views this as a culture change issue and my peers and I with our leadership are identifying how to lead that change. We’re thinking of Product Practice as a product and applying PM to the problem we’re trying to solve.
