Thrilled to announce that my first book - tentatively titled RAJASTHAN: Politics and Power Struggles in India’s Largest State, co-authored with dear friend & fellow journalist @manwithaquill , will be out in the Summer of 2024. It is a great honour to have our debut book published by @PanMacIndia . A huge thanks to our amazing editor @TeestaGuha for believing in our work and finding the book worthy. We were also very lucky to have the wonderful team at @suitableagency - @hemalisodhi @rsengupta2003 & Ambar Sahil Chatterjee, for believing in us and representing us. The book will be the first single in-depth source of non-fiction work in English that critically examines the political history of Rajasthan from 1947 to 2023 - driven by caste and feudal traditions dating back to the time Rajputana was a collection of many princely states. It has taken us more than three years of research, interviews and legwork to weave the many interesting strands of Rajasthan's politics. It also made me revisit my field notes from the last 14 years of reporting in Rajasthan. Last but not the least, this couldn't have been possible without the people featured in this book, who opened their doors and hearts. Right from scribbling ideas on tissue papers and discussing chapter outlines over cups of coffee and peach ice tea (one by two for both of us) to getting the final manuscript ready and hearing about the news of the acquisition, the journey has been exciting and special. A special thank you, to my wonderful fellow journalists & editors, I have had an opportunity to work with. And I am equally grateful to my notebook, pen & camera - my constant co-travellers during all these reporting assignments. ✍️📸
