Rico was stable enough to jump back when the ref broke them apart. It was a bad stoppage (just like with Parker), even the ref later admitted he hadn't heard the bell.

I personally had @RicoVerhoeven and @usykaa dead even going into the 12th. I don’t believe it was a justified stoppage and it was any man’s fight to win. We were all robbed of one of the most exciting rounds in boxing history. Rico could have easily continued.

It was a bad stoppage, they unfortunately happen all the time. Anthony Joshua stopped Carlos Takam w/ a 3 punch combo none of which landed, the same happened just last year w/ Fabio Wardley & Joseph Parker. Not the most corrupt officiating you’ll see this month never mind ever.

@OllRad Usyk knew. But not the first time he was losing a fight but won by KO. Even Bellew was winning on the scorecards before gassing out and getting KO'd. Usyk's daughter was apparently transported to a bomb shelter earlier that evening so maybe Usyk wasn't fully focused on the fight.

I genuinely don’t think Usyk thought he was down or needed a finish. He was just boxing, picking his shots here and there, not really affected by Rico’s roughhousing, and not listening to the DAZN team and getting swept up in the narrative they were running.

@BloodstainLane7 I think Usyk beat Dubois and Fury the first times, scoring was biased towards Fury in their first fight btw. But yeah, Rico was beating Usyk handedly, the bullshit scorecards would have robbed Rico anyway. It's terrible.

In my opinion, Usyk should have 3 losses on his record. The first DuBois fight when he was dropped by a legit body shot in round 5 and he said it was a low blow. That should have been a TKO win for Dubois. I believe Tyson Fury outboxed him and should have won a decision in their first fight. He got absolutely wiped by Rico tonight and should have lost a majority decision but the ref saved him from the L.

@pumpinuhard @Grabaka_Hitman Early stoppage would mean that there was still time left in the round, but the bell had already rung. Rico has been through way worse knockdowns in kickboxing and came back to win those fights. If a boxer contests the ref after being waived off, you know it was a bad stoppage.

It was early, but you are ignoring the 5-10 seconds of mouth piece AFTER the standing 8 while Usyk is ready to tee off on him in the corner. It was over, Ref saved Rico some brain damage, what do you think was going to happen in the 12th? The uppercut dropped him, knocked his mouth piece out, great fight by a great white warrior in Rico but Usyk still won the fight. Ref actually knows he fucked up with the mouth piece tried to make up for it, early stoppage but just fixed his own mistake of not letting Usyk get to him sooner.

Don't defend this shit. Have some self respect.
