@davidjsmith1232 Those 2 stick out for me as well. Also, if Jazz draft AJ I would look at Anfernee Simons as well.

Two more years hearing Kerr complain about the NBA season being too long!
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

BREAKING: Steve Kerr has agreed on a new two-year contract to return as head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Dan Eveloff and Rick Smith of @PrioritySports tell me, @anthonyVslater and @ramonashelburne. After three weeks of extensive conversations, Kerr and the Warriors agreed to continue their legendary partnership in what will be his 13th season and beyond as Warriors coach.

@davidjsmith1232 Next season will be age 36 and yes played better but a lot less (53 games). It would be a terribly shortsighted move by the Jazz to pay 22% of the cap and move off of 4-5 players to get enough to match salary, for a bit of defensive culture…

@trueblueclint Perhaps not, but he looked great in POR. Turned back the clock with a strong season.

@NateDuncanNBA Said off arm just led to Embiid injury. So annoying that he has been empowered to play that way.

One thing I'll be watching tonight: Will Jaylen Brown be allowed to use his off arm, and how will he handle officials calling the offensive foul? I broke down Brown's role in the league-wide off-ball trend: youtube.com/watch?v=HpwPeC…

@davidjsmith1232 @solelyme06 They could still offer Kessler a bunch if they move on from LeBron. Reaves cap hold is not that high. Not sure they will, but they could.

Brendan Sorsby has entered a gambling addiction program for sports betting, which could end his college career. The second paragraph of this story is remarkable.

@davidjsmith1232 Based on this season and postseason, combined with his contract (oof), I doubt there is much demand for his services.

Another Lu Dort trip! This is getting totally out of control. One of these incidents there might be some plausible deniability but they are just adding up too much.

In Mere Christianity, CS Lewis has an awesome opening riff about how most people know the difference between right and wrong, but they justify acting immorally by appealing to "special exception." They know they shouldn't hit a friend, but what if that friend was being so mean? They know they shouldn't steal a seat a bus, but what if that person got up and created a moment's confusion and then the seat was up for grabs? Etc. When I read this section, I thought a lot about contemporary politics and the way that people justify their politics, not by appealing to higher principles, but rather by appealing to "special exception" to argue that their admitted indecency is justifiable in context. A lot of MAGA vice is justified by special exception. Trump's defenders rarely defend his crookedness directly. They don't say "it's wonderful to use trade policy to enrich the Oval Office, it's really awesome." They say: Well, look, it doesn't really matter, because the left is so dangerous, Biden maybe did something similar 3 years ago, Democrats would do the same in power, and so forth. I heard something similar in that NYT conversation everybody's talking about. You even see it in the headline: ‘The Rich Don’t Play by the Rules. So Why Should I?’ Why, hello, special exception. When you start arguing that stealing food and French paintings is justifiable in the context of political protest in an age of prevailing distrust, you're similarly not arguing *for* any kind of a universal principle. Nobody actually wants 300 million people stealing fruit from the grocery store. Nobody actually wants every Louvre visitor trying to rip a Manet off the walls. These virtues don't scale. (Because they're not virtuous!) Sap that I am, I want us to get to a place where politics is about fighting for what is right and decent, not about justifying what sort of indecent behavior might be somewhat understandable or technically justifiable given the other side's vice or the prevailing levels of indecency. The point is to build the kind of goodness that scales. nytimes.com/2026/04/22/opi…

Just speaking for myself of course, Mark Jones was very difficult to listen to and I am glad that someone else will be in that spot. I am sure that some people enjoyed his stylings.
David Locke@DLocke09

Huge loss for NBA fans. Mark calls a brilliant game. Understanding of hoops, cadence, vocab, huge moments. He is truly on of the best. Best compliment I can give his call is I regularly download his games and send them to my daughter who is a aspiring play by play announcer

@getsit That is quite the prediction! I will definitely give him time. I just think they could have gotten him much later than the #16 pick.

@NateDuncanNBA Why not “unflatten” the odds but put a time limit (2 years?) on lottery availability. Max of 2 years in the bottom 4, if you are in the lottery after that you are automatically bumped to end of the lottery. Could minimize the # of tanking teams (and tanking games in April).

The reaction I've seen to NBA's tanking proposals hasn't been positive. Personally I think the proposal with the flattened lottery odds would be a substantial improvement from the current system.
