There’s no such thing as “nondenominational.” Let’s be honest. When a church slaps that label on the door, they’re not floating above history like some pure Bible cloud. They’re almost always low-church Protestants with a fresh coat of paint—usually evangelical, Baptist-flavored, or charismatic. No liturgy, no sacraments as the early Church knew them, no bishops in apostolic succession… just a pastor, a stage, some fog machines, and whatever the latest “God told me” interpretation of Scripture happens to be this week. Every single “nondenominational” group still makes choices: Which books are in the Bible? How do we baptize? What’s the Lord’s Supper? Who has authority to teach? They answer those questions the same way every Protestant tradition does—by their own private judgment, not by the unbroken Faith “once delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3). The historic Church didn’t need a label. For the first thousand years there was simply The Church—One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. She preserved the Apostles’ doctrine, the Eucharist as true Body and Blood, the prayers and fasting of the saints, and the creeds forged in the fires of the early councils. No restarts in 1517. No “just me and my Bible in 2025.” Protestantism splintered into tens of thousands of denominations because once you reject the visible unity and authority Christ gave His Church, everyone becomes their own pope. “Nondenominational” is just the current marketing term for that same fragmentation. It sounds humble. It feels independent. But it’s still a tradition—just one that started with 16th-century reformers and 19th/20th-century American revivalists, not with the Apostles. I left that world behind and came home to Holy Orthodoxy. The same Church that St. Paul, St. Athanasius, St. John Chrysostom, and millions of martyrs would still recognize today. No innovations. No marketing. Just the ancient Faith in all its fullness. If you’re in a “nondenominational” church and love Jesus, I’m not here to mock you. I’m here to say: dig deeper. Read the Church Fathers. Study the first few centuries. Ask yourself why the earliest Christians worshiped the way they did. There is one Church. Christ promised the gates of hell wouldn’t prevail against it. She’s still here. ☦️ Come and see.

They are romantic reconstructions filtered through a reformed Christian, Masonic, secular, or even occult lens.
