@tryagain1221112 @E_anything @MLB @Pirates A There are 2 cutoff men for a play at home, if the throw sails over the 1st one the 2nd relay can catch it B A bounced ball draws the cutter toward the bounce (see the clip) making an awkward relay A higher throw leads the cutoff backwards toward the plate where the play is

@jopehaley @E_anything @MLB @Pirates The point is to aim low. A ball that bounces a few feet in front of you is easier to field than a ball over your head and since it’s hard to judge exactly where you are in relation to the cutoff man, aim low.

Oneil Cruz is doing everything possible to test #Pirates & their fans patience. Lobs a ball into the infield on a sac fly w runner on first. Then doesn’t bust it down the line on a ground ball up the middle, a difficult play for second baseman. Season is three games old. Woof.

Two gigantic misplays by Oneil Cruz. No errors charged. But he cost Paul Skenes 4 runs

@JeffPassan When all anyone talked about was how he was basically unbeatable if his team scores 4 runs, this was a perfect start.

Paul Skenes is done. He recorded two outs. You have to think this was as much about not taking an extremely stressful inning and adding to it as anything. Skenes threw 37 pitches, and Pirates manager Don Kelly didn't want to tax him more. A stunning first for the Mets.

Oneil Cruz needs to move back to SS Jake Mangim needs to start in CF Jared Triolo needs to be back in 3B Can’t have that bad of defense in the outfield. Cruz was way better defensively at SS than CF

Oneil Cruz misread a Brett Baty line drive to center field. His first step was in. That was a mistake. The ball went over his head and cleared the bases. The next pitch, Cruz lost the ball in the sun. The Mets have put up five runs on Paul Skenes and there's still only one out.
