The Justice Department is seeking his extradition on several counts, the most serious a charge of financing the Palestinian resistance, which his family calls fabricated and says rests only on money he transferred from the U.S. to Tunisia, where he lived and funded local businesses and the football club Club Africain. Six police vehicles surrounded his car as he drove with his family Friday, his family said, and an Ibiza court denied him bail. A hearing is set for Thursday. His partner, Stella Schnabel, said he faces “political persecution for having dedicated his life to building a better society.”
