🔺 Care work makes all other #work possible 🟡 Yet it's unpaid, undervalued & invisible in #GDP 📢 Recognize it. Reduce it. Redistribute it. Because it's investing in the infrastructure of daily life❗ ⚠️ Care is work we can't neglect. Period. ➡️ ilo.org/globalcare/ @ilo

Women’s rights are human rights. And investing in women and girls is one of the surest ways to make the world a better place Yet, progress on gender equality has been slow and uneven. It’s time to take action and deliver the equality our world so sorely needs. Women and girls are changing the world. Let’s change the world for women and girls.

It’s 2026—and women earn about 20% less than men on average. Unacceptable. Gaps persist in employment, earnings and leadership roles. At today’s pace, equality in employment could take nearly two centuries. There is no #SocialJustice without gender equality. #IWD2026

Generative #AI is reshaping the world of work, with the potential to boost productivity, support job creation and improve job quality, but its impacts are far from gender-neutral. 📖 New @ilo Brief explains: ow.ly/tWep50YpwvO #IWD2026

Sexual harassment has no place in the world of work. 🚫 Yet, too many women still face violence and harassment daily. It’s time to ensure safe and dignified workplaces for everyone. Let’s make it clear: #NoExcuse for harassment. Join the call. #RatifyC190 #16Days

Investing in care is one of the smartest investments we can make. Care is essential to well-being, productive economies & sustainable societies—yet it’s underfunded. On the road to #SocialSummit2025, hear why it should be at the heart of social development.

The team at Sally Mugabe Hospital successfully removed a 4kg tumour from a tiny 4 year old patient who had a total weight of 17kg (including the tumour!!!). It was a complex operation that required well coordinated surgical, anaesthetic, nursing and other technical teams. Just before we started, I took time to discuss the surgical procedure and anticipated critical events with lead anaesthetist, Dr Gwaze. Towering head and shoulders above everyone in the unit, Dr Gwaze is a formidable but reassuring presence in theatre, composed during critical periods. Dr Mutambanengwe caught us deep in discussion and remarked that I looked shorter than David in comparison. Children with cancer often have good outcomes but late diagnosis often complicates care.
