@KryyssX @Chavenham I’m a big fan of that era and the shareware concept. Maybe I’ll try something similar for one of my own games someday. It’s an attractive way to market and sell a game, and honestly I think it deserves a comeback.

We need a Steam demo evolution. Hundreds of games to play, nobody wants tutorials before knowing if they like the game. New meta: Fast gameplay showcase, the best you have to offer in a 2-5 mins experience. A demo made to be a demo, not the first boring minutes of the full game.

@CollinHarsin @Ahwhwh2740394 I seem to need that intermediate phase where I build mood shots, concept renders, atmosphere tests, and character designs before touching gameplay. Basically, I’m asking myself: “Do I actually want to live in this world for the next few months or years?”

@CollinHarsin @Ahwhwh2740394 I use two types of blockout: After documentation and defining the core idea, I start with what I call a visual blockout, which is supposed to answer the question “Does this feel right?”. Then I continue with the traditional level design/gameplay blockout, answering “Is this fun?”

Now that the DEMO IS OUT, even more people are calling us a "Shock-like," which is great, of course, since the Shock games had the biggest influence on us. But honestly... we can't wait for people to experience the full game and realize just how different it is overall.

@BeanJuiceStudio I was a professional musician for over 10 years, and at a certain point couldn’t enjoy concerts or listening to music in general because I dissected everything and wasn’t able to simply listen to it. As far as video games go, I’m not there yet, and I’m grateful for that. 😂

@DonorZero @TheGamesDet The flame can recover when sheltered or after resting, but it never fully returns to 100% once it’s been drained. The goal is tension, not annoyance. It’s still very much an ongoing design process, and I’m always open to suggestions.

@tslice261 @TheGamesDet Resource-light does something to pacing nothing else does. People stop wandering and start budgeting every step. Curious how you're tuning burn rate so it reads tense, not nagging.

@DonorZero @TheGamesDet Indeed it does. Clever placement of lanterns and campfires serves as save zones and refill points. Most of the pressure comes from weather (especially wind) and movement-heavy sections.

Spent the afternoon on Witcher 3. Been working through the Novigrad quests. Get Junior, Sigismund Dijkstra treasure, the play and now about to finally rescue Dandelion. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but Witcher 3 is a damn masterpiece #TheWitcher3
