MESSAGE
I wholeheartedly endorse the powerful appeal for peace made by the Holy Father, Pope Leo, during his Palm Sunday Mass. His call for the laying down of arms and the renunciation of violence resonated profoundly with me, as it speaks to the very essence of what all major religions teach.
Indeed, whether we look to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any of the world's great spiritual traditions, the message is fundamentally the same: love, compassion, tolerance, and self-discipline. Violence finds no true home in any of these teachings. History has shown us time and again that violence only begets more violence and is never a lasting foundation for peace.
An enduring resolution to conflict, including the ones we see in the Middle East or between Russia and Ukraine, must be rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect — approached with the understanding that, at the deepest level, we are all brothers and sisters.
I urge for and pray that the violence and conflicts may soon come to an end.

@Devon_Eriksen_ Before 2000, talking about food was called a "food report." The term "food terrorism" gradually emerged to refer to a surprise attack that disrupts one's diet.
English

Apparently, "food terrorism" is not a joke the Japanese came up with just now to describe our steakposting.
It's a preexisting Japanese idiom for showing you something you really want to eat, when you can't actually eat it.

@MyWatchIsLost We use the metric system, but for American-sized items, we may use pounds and inches.
English

My fellow Americans, they call their super sizes "American size". This is incredible news.

@WatcherontheWeb In my view, the countries most pro-American today are Japan and Vietnam. Those who fought willingly can accept the consequences. In many other countries, people were forced and killed. It’s understandable they feel resentment.
English

@WatcherontheWeb Japanese citizens were not forced by a dictator—they supported the war and participated voluntarily. It was a total war of a democracy. We must accept the consequences of our own choices. The war is over. You are not our enemies, and we do not hate you.

Dear new Japanese friends...
May I beg an explanation of something of you? I'm sure the answer is different for everyone... but... WHY do you like us?
Many places we have gone to war with, and even some of the ones we have gone to war to save... seem to hate us
But our nations engaged in some of what is arguably the most horrific warfare in human history to that date, and it's not like you got space away from us or our culture afterwards to gain peace over it
why don't you hate us like the Germans do? Or the french? or on most days, half of the British?
I'm VERY happy about it, and grateful, but I have always wondered what the difference is
I know much of it for us is "We had a problem, we settled it, now there's not a problem"... kind of the "2 dudes fight on the playground and end up best friends" thing
