Tessy’s Brunches: Elevate HER I had the honour of being invited to speak Tessy’s Brunches hosted by the powerhouse Dr Tessy Ojo CBE @Ttall to discuss how you can advocate better for your health and have your voice heard True advocacy happens when you are being listened to and your experience is being validated: My top tips for advocacy for your health: 1. Take your symptom checker and share your ideas, concerns & expectations of what you would like at the consultation 2. Say “I have gone through reasonable lengths to self manage this situation and I now need to escalate it, maybe some investigations or a certain medical intervention might help?” 3. if at the end of this you're still being denied the care you need, go in with, 'please refer me onto a specialist, I would like a second opinion” I always says visibility, representation, collaboration and uplifting others to the table where conversations are happening for meaningful change are at the heart of being heard - may we continue to do this for better outcomes 💕 You matter Your voice matters

Last week Concordia and The Diana Award hosted an intimate roundtable exploring bold, cross-sector solutions to one of the UK’s most urgent public health challenges: 🧠 The mental health crisis disproportionately affecting Black and racialised youth.

1. @Ttall for being forward thinking and ensuring that youth social mobility was the core focus for The Diana Award and Paul's previous work in Anti-Bullying. And for always taking time to talk on a level, no matter how busy they both got.

Diana Award: I am deeply honored to be recognized by The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) as a recipient of the 2024 Diana Award (@DianaAward), the most prestigious accolade a young person can achieve for their contributions in their field. The Diana Award was founded on the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world. Also, I have been fortunate to receive global recognition and other prestigious awards in the past, including: 2024: International Scholar Award, given by The American Academy of Neurology (@AANmember). 2023: Forbes 30 Under 30 in Medicine and Research (@Forbes). 2022: International Scholar Award, given by The Society for Neuro-Oncology (@NeuroOnc). And now, at the end of 2024, I am honored to be a Diana Award Recipient (@DianaAward). I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I began pursuing what I love most in 2018, never imagining that one day I would receive even a single international award recognizing my efforts in engaging young people in professional health education and scientific research globally at @OliHealthOrg. From 2018 to 2024, God has been with me every step of the way. I look forward to seeing what God and the future have in store for me in the years ahead. Tullyveery House provided the perfect opportunity to take my newest little creation on its first outing. This versatile crocheted square is made in either 100% linen or Donegal tweed. Intemporal, a new venture for me, is enabling me to get back to my textile design roots.

(1/2) RECLAIMING NARRATIVES_ This year’s theme is not just about telling the stories of Black communities; it’s about allowing them to take control of their own narrative and ensure that their stories are told with the respect, dignity, and accuracy it deserves.
