Are your players cognitively fit? That may be a tough question to answer?  But why? I might suggest that it is not a question you have had to answer before. I know that it was not a question that I even addressed as a young coach myself. My task was to get my team fit to play, yes. But “cognitively fit?” My task was to train technique, yes. But intelligence?   I lined players up to train passing, shooting and dribbling as these were the fundamentals my federation espoused. Technique and tactics. Maybe throw some social and psychological components in the mix and my federation instructor smiles upon me. My license was in the mail.  Then something happened. I studied child development. Why would anyone do that, you ask? A fair question. I wanted to teach and thought that understanding how young people actually learn might be useful. There is no teaching without fruitful learning. Call me crazy, I know. Now, I coach aligned with the way kids learn. Now I ensure my players are cognitively, physically and tecnically fit. #TOVO #inteliigentfootball
