You might know San Antonio Spurs player Stephon Castle as the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year. But he’s also an investor of MLS NEXT PRO side CT United. There are other NBA stars with investments in soccer teams, but they invested when they became veterans on lucrative contracts. Why did Castle start young at 21? He explains 🗣️ “Just being able to connect with people on that [ownership] level is obviously a big thing for me. So just that in itself I feel like is a success,” he said. “So later down the line, even after my career, I’m probably definitely going to look into doing this again.” “I feel like that’s just the way me and all my siblings were raised, just to think smart, think ahead, and try and not to skip steps.” Castle was raised in Georgia but played at the University of Connecticut so the state became his second home. He also admitted lack of Black ownership in American sports teams is a big reason why he decided to join CT United— which has a Black ownership group. CT United are playing their inaugural season this year. So far, they have two wins and one loss. [via NBC News]

The maximum an individual can legally donate to a candidate in an election is $3300. Elon donated $277M to Trump in 2024 because of loopholes rich people use to buy elections. If you care about election integrity — overturn Citizens United so our elections aren’t auctions.
