Zak Butters has been found guilty of abusive and insulting language towards an umpire and fined $1500.
Details: afl.com.au/news/1498046

English

@cleary_mitch @7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL all this for a $1500 fine? this league is run by morons
English

Zak Butters is currently before the AFL Tribunal.
Both the AFL and Port Adelaide are comfortable with a $1500 fine should the charge be upheld
@7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL
English

@OzKryten @Tom_p916 @bradeningram @ProtectingSport you are dead wrong. he literally made comments after the game saying he was asking how it was a free kick
English

@Tom_p916 @bradeningram @ProtectingSport That’s not what he said first. Only after he found out what the umpire was alleging did he change his version to something similar.
English

Power Chairman David Koch is adamant Zak Butters had no idea umpire Nick Foot is employed by Sportsbet.
Koch also said Butters absolutely aware umpires are mic’d up but followed up with:
“We’ve had instances where our players have been recorded 20 meters away, you would expect if you’re two meters away it would have been recorded…so not sure what’s happened here.”

Mike Breen:
“1st time ever…entire playoffs exclusive to national TV…poor decision…fans want to hear their home team announcers, at least 1st round…part of the family. I get networks pay a fortune…but fans deserve to be thrown a bone…This is our final telecast of the season.”

English

"This is a beauty … he thought that was a kick!" 😆
The #OnTheCouch team points out a VERY cheeky Ben Keays moment - either one of the all-time attempts to fool the umps... or he's forgotten the rules completely!
English

@KaleReed4 @DwaynesWorldSEN the prick actively cheered for richmond against port while commentating the other week…
English

@DwaynesWorldSEN Loves a Port loss don’t ya Dwayne. One day we’ll find out what happened in 81-86 that’s brought on this consistent barracking against them.
English

@NicNegrepontis they can definitely not take the umpire’s side but they’re too piss weak for that. umpires need to learn the game isn’t about them
English

@DeusVultScurra @LegionHoops He has no calls lol. He's silent in-between plays and only screams when great shots are made. But, he has worked with ABC(or ESPN(Cavs vs Wolves) this season, so I am sure he'll cover some Hornet games if they make it to round 1.
English

@DeusVultScurra @LegionHoops i’m sure there are other ways to listen to a dude scream non stop for 3 hours
English

@LegionHoops It’s a league wide travesty that we won’t get to hear Eric Collins call a Hornets play in game..

@cleary_mitch @7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL If that was said, then 50m penalty and report is appropriate
English

Nick Foot alleges Zak Butters said “How much are they paying you?”
Butters has been referred directly to the Tribunal
@7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL
English

@tommorris32 so he said “how are you an umpire?” and foot gave st kilda a free goal and reported butters? and he’s still employed as an afl umpire?
English

While it’s not yet clear precisely what Nick Foot believed Zak Butters said to him, what has become clear is that Butters (allegedly) questioned his integrity as an umpire.
Foot has claimed he did so without using the word ‘cheat’. Lawyers involved, a possible tribunal hearing awaits.
Butters & Port denying anything untoward & no audio available of the alleged remarks.
@1116sen @AFLNation
English

@genalds89 @OG1BonnyP @RalphyHeraldSun and none of that has anything to do with umpire abuse you fucking simpleton
English

@ttocsll @OG1BonnyP @RalphyHeraldSun Read the whole sentence you fucking simpleton. Hes got form where being a fuckhead is concerned. The evidence is his record breaking volume of fines
English

The Zak Butters abuse standoff. Butters is adamant he said nothing, umpire Foote has told the AFL what he believes was said but they will go over it with him again today before deciding on next steps. It could even go to the tribunal where both parties state their case. The AFL has to be seen to supporting its umpires after the Lachie Schultz fiasco last year 👇heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-…

English

@genalds89 @OG1BonnyP @RalphyHeraldSun you do. so show me the form he has in relation to this topic of umpire abuse…

English

@ttocsll @OG1BonnyP @RalphyHeraldSun Who gives a fuck? Hes a fucking loser on the football field incapable of controlling himself
English

@OG1BonnyP @RalphyHeraldSun The cunt has literally been fined more than anybody else in the history of the game. Hes got form where being a fuckhead is concerned
English

@ATLHawks Odds that we hear a "F Trae Young chant" even though he doesn't play with the team anymore?
English

@cdthirteen @SportNut007 @tommorris32 yep but the afl would never release it if it made them or their umpire look bad. pathetic competition
English

@SportNut007 @tommorris32 Surely the umpire has to submit somewhere what hes placed Butters on report for tho?
English

Confirmed no umpire microphone audio of what Zak Butters allegedly said.
Historical reference points for umpire abuse:
- Liam Ryan fined $1500 last year
- Dale Thomas fined $7,500 for calling a boundary umpire a cheat in 2019
- Dane Rampe fined $5k (+$5k suspended) for telling an umpire he talks ‘like a little girl’

SEN 1116@1116sen
“You can’t have a player placed on report for saying, ‘What was that for?’” MORE | bit.ly/3Q3JnpY @SENBreakfast | #AFL
English

@tommorris32 so basically he didn’t say anything worthy of a report but the afl don’t want to admit their umpire was a precious sook? clown show
English

And answer is Port fans should be super pissed
Adrian G@AGissara
After last nights game I’d assume Port fans would be super pissed if they don’t get the same level of home town umpiring in their game on Sunday night
