@AutoPap I love hiring budget cars and nearly always refuse the upgrades that I get offered especially when I have specified a particular car from their website. Love trying small French and Italian cars to see how they compare. Never accepted a Vauxhall unless they had nothing else.

People often talk about winning the car hire lottery. I think I just got yesterday’s losing ticket

@Kev_and_1 @AutoPap We had this on a 17 plate work GTD about three years ago. I didn’t know it was a known fault and they were happy to charge me £6,000 for new box. No goodwill, exactly what you would expect from @UKVolkswagen dealers who all seem to be useless. Great cars, rubbish dealers.

@AutoPap ‘67 plate Golf GTD with DSG box. Car built around time of known manufacturing issue with box hydraulics, that can trash the box completely. VW issued software update to monitor, rather than replace. My car has just had component fail (break), so I could be in for a 4-8k bill..

What’s your opinion on manufacturer recalls? Defender went in for a couple today including a security software update. I quite like the fact manufacturers are held to account or proactively seek to better their products.

@MunichLegends I love mine and prefer the grill to the standard one which now looks dated in my eyes. My Touring in a very dark blue (carbon black) looks way more understated than the green B3 that I was going to buy. Only downside to me is small fuel tank and no sunroof.

This rather striking visitor had all of us at ML talking yesterday. Do you think we're over the big grill now? What are your thoughts on the M3 touring?

@AutoInfatuation Bentayga are lovely to drive but hideous to look at. Diesel engine great but they haven’t made them for years now so you would need to buy an old car. Surely a new or nearly new Range Rover diesel would be the best bet. Don’t believe all the unreliability crap that people spout.

Putting aside any grievances you may have with the Bentley Bentayga’s looks or the fact it’s an ‘SUV’ so to speak what do you think to the following? As a direct replacement for my BMW M760Li it would be a step up but would have to be a specific specification E.g rear jet class style heated/cooled/massaging seats (I think everything else I need is standard 🤷‍♂️). Being an SUV it means I’ll be able to get 3/4 large cases in as opposed to 2 large, 2 small in my BMW which I now needed more and more often with my customer base. You sit up higher which in my experience I find customers generally prefer anyway but mainly it’s a Bentley so everywhere you look and touch is pure plush quality. Here’s the conundrum though, the most sensible engine for me doing 20-25k a year would be the 4.0 Twin Turbo V8 Diesel that is shared amongst the VAG corporation. Reading & watching reviews on this pairing it seems as if it’s a perfect match. Fast, powerful, reliable, refined & even quite economical at around 600+ miles to a tank (350-400 from my V12 BMW)……..but it’s a Diesel, in a Bentley - which just feels wrong doesn’t it? 😬

@ListerLawrence @LancsPolice These guys call themselves Auditors, basically they are guys on YouTube with nothing better to do than go around trying to wind up people doing their daily business. They just try and provoke an argument with anyone they can. Best advice is not to engage with them at all.

We’ve had a very suspicious masked man walking around our Lister Cars showroom in Lancashire today. Do you think this is surveillance for a robbery? I’m extremely worried we’re being cased! @LancsPolice

@LUDENClassics That’s very nice. Unusual to see that colour on a Series 2, would look much nicer with correct period white and yellow numberplates.

A rare colour on an XJ, with this 1974 Jaguar XJ12 L Series 2 offered with a guide of £15k-£19k. Cheap tyres not a highlight, and possibly people would prefer a later fuel injected car (or perhaps not) Sold provisionally for £12,000 plus fees. A wonderful car at a low price

@nigellosmith Less than 1k a year. Most of the miles were covered in the first few years and then it has just been used for the odd ride out.

@ttsls Just absolutely stunning, is it all original? I started selling Mercedes products in 1994 when the 140 model had been launched. Unfortunately I don’t think any S Class is built as well as this.

@ttsls That’s lovely. A great colour, good engine option. Interior photos please! I will be even more jealous if it’s got velour. They were so good that what they did they are vanishingly rare at such low miles.

@AutoInfatuation I took my 2 wk old Range Rover Supercharged through it in 2006 after seeing a couple of Astra vans go through. When we were half a mile into it some lights came on saying ‘suspension failure’ and the car dropped to its lowest level and promptly died. 4 passengers weren’t happy.

**None of these are my photos FYI** Welney Wash, Norfolk - from where I live this is an ideal cut through to go just about anywhere southbound. However between November & February I just make an assumption it is shut as it’s one of the most notorious stretches of road to flood in the UK 🇬🇧. Turns out a good few others do not think this way and feel they can get one over on Mother Nature 🌊 These are genuine photos taken over the last few weeks of vehicles abandoned within the wash road of Welney, I’d say the lower level is around 1-1.5mi long and has a few bends - you noticeably drop down as you enter it which is saying something as we are on the flat lands of the Fens here. Some cracking views when the sun rises and sets though 🌅📸
