🚨EXTREME HEAT WATCH IN NYC🚨   Wednesday through at least Saturday, heat indices will surpass 100 degrees, potentially reaching 109 on Friday.   These are extremely dangerous conditions, and New Yorkers must plan now to stay safe and help their neighbors do the same.   The best way to prepare for extreme heat is to identify a safe, air-conditioned place you can spend the hot days.   If you don't have air-conditioning at home, plan to stay with family and friends or visit a free, public cooling center. Beginning Wednesday, the City will activate hundreds of free locations across the city. Find one nearest you, including accessible and pet-friendly options, by visiting nyc.gov/beattheheat or by calling 311.   Once you have your heat plan, check in on your neighbors — especially seniors, outdoor workers, and people with chronic health illnesses — to make sure they have one too.   Under the City's Heat Emergency Plan, the City has been planning since last week for what may be a historic heat wave.
