The hydrogen GPU was successfully tested at @Schiphol in 99 Turnarounds on a @KLM City Hopper. Results are promising and ground handlers are comfortable with the operations. The hGPU allows Schiphol to overcome grid issues & eliminate remaining emissions from current HVO100 GPUs.

Daan van Dyke on future powered aircraft: Technology is developing but also supply chain, regulation and standardisation aspects are to overcome. Charging electric planes and understanding the holistic process of refueling LH planes is at the core of @RTHA_Nieuws future mindset.

Session 3.1 @torinoairport aims to comply with #fitfor55. The airport can model pathways considering investments and energy/emission impacts. Scenarios were run to find the optimal localized solution. Implementation measures were decided, progress is made towards the targets set.

Schiphol is planning to increase its grid capacity but the implementation is too slow to meet green deal targets. Alternative solutions are tested incl. smart grid system to reduce consumption and a heat storage system to phased out burning of natural gas. Results are promising.

Session 2-Energy Storage Wesley Teeuwisse from @Schiphol: There are reasons for electrified air side operations (eGPU) beyond emission reduction. Grid congestion and national regulations are key drivers. Smart grid management and local storage facilities enable sustainable growth

Session 1 - Matteo Prussi from @PoliTOnews is describing ways on how to overcome the challenges in long-term planing for the clean energy transition at airports. PoliTO developed a modeling tool that allows technology overarching an commodity price conscious scenario calculations

Session 1-Assessing Future energy demand. Arie Kalkman from @TNO_Research explains that airports in Europe need to know their future energy demand to make useful decisions on how to implement the transition towards zero emission airport operation. Scenario-based modeling is key.

Update: Georgio Medici from @AirportsMilan: We need to start now to consider airports as energy hubs and to connect them with pipelines for e.g. hydrogen to fulfill the updated AZEA Vision in time.

! @ACI_EUROPE remarks: Airports in Europe are required to electrify their operations. If all aspects of operations are considered airports' energy demand could be 5-10 times higher than today's. Finance and taxonomy for sustainable operations matter to support the transition.

The TULIPS consortium welcomes @TLD_GSE as a formal partner to develop a hydrogen-powered tow tractor with @BallardPwr for zero emission ground movements of aircraft up to wide-body level.@Schiphol and Fraunhofer IML will demonstrate its operational capacities in Summer 2025.
