#LUFC v Burnley - Daniel Farke's pre-match press conference • OUT: Gabriel Gudmundsson (hamstring - may be available after Spurs) • DOUBT: Noah Okafor (calf), Jaka Bijol (hip flexor) SEMI-FINAL LOSS • "Since Monday it's not a topic anymore. If you want to go on a historical cup run you can only do it if you have been fully committed. We wanted to be as successful as possible. Of course we're disappointed. We lost to a side with their best performance for 2 months. We weren't at our best. But we have made our supporters proud. We've put it to bed and we concentrate on the league now." BURNLEY • "There's no complacency. We are very respectful. There was not one time this season that they have been played off the park. They are very competitive with many tight games. I have so much respect for Scott. I have never seen a Burnley team give up. They have showed good performances. And once relegation is confirmed it gives you a lot of freedom - it happens quite often (like with Leicester v Millwall recently for example). So I expect it will be more complicated because they will play without pressure. And the last couple of seasons it was difficult to open this team up. I expect a very difficult game. So we are concentrated, focused, highly motivated and want to win as many points as possible." • "We've shown over the last months: the cup game against West Ham, Old Trafford, against Wolves and Bournemouth we were fantastic but we are very respectful and we will fight for each and every point. We know that one more win will ease the pressure and it's always much more relaxed if you don't have to travel on the last day and win some points so we want to get it done." • On the importance of ensuring survival early to start planning for next season asap: "In general it's always better the earlier you can plan: it's a fact. But especially this season 1 or 2 weeks won't matter because of the World Cup. But just for the nerves of everyone it would be good (to secure survival asap)." • On what survival would mean: "I don't like to praise us too early and too much for something we haven't achieved yet. You know how difficult it is for previous promoted sides to stay up (with the recent ones all going straight back down again) even if they have spent more than we were able to." • On the team getting nervous from looking at other results: "My players are allowed to have a look at other results. You have to deal with it mature and relaxed but it makes no difference. You can only influence what you do. We have fought and worked very hard to bring us into this position (where we have our destiny in our hands)." • On Stach fitness: "We have 2 more days. It was beneficial for Stach to have the 45 minutes on Sunday. It's important for the confidence in his body after this injury. It's not ideal during the crunch time for such influential players to be out. I think Joe and Anton were excellent on Sunday." • On DCL not scoring from open play since February "DCL is of course invited to and welcome to score. Away against Palace he missed a few chances, but with the underload in the second half you can't expect much. Against Man Utd he played a major role with goal line clearances. But there were a few times he missed a few chances. A bit like at the start of the season. And then everyone was over the moon when he went on a run of back to back goals. The solution is to work hard on being a good teammate. Don't think too much about the goals because they will come. He has scored his whole life and they will come. Also work hard in training. Scoring is like a bottle of ketchup when it comes out all of a sudden." • On Aaronson watching his chance over and over again: "It's important to watch scenes back and analyse. It was an extraordinary save from Sanchez. I thought initially he could have gone a bit closer to the girl but he picked his spot and hit it well. I was quite pleased that Brenden had this chance and sometimes you have to give credit to the goalkeeper. And then you don't have to dwell on it. Brenden has brought himself into good positions and also created chances and then hopefully he will be able to score these chances." • On teams parking the bus: "This is more or less the challenge that we have in a home game if you want to dominate. We have found a way in the Championship where we have to play 20 games where the opponents park the bus. We have had several times where a team we're playing is concentrated on defending. Sometimes you dominate every statistic like against Sunderland and they score a penalty that was basically their only chance and we missed some sitters, and its difficult to explain defeats like this. So you have to be creative, open them up, don't allow counterattacks, be there for every set piece and if you do create chances you have to be brutal and clinical in front of goal. Football doesn't always go to plan, but we're confident in our plan. But I expect Burnley to play with a little more freedom so we need to have balance. We start the game with a point and that's an important point for us and even a point could be decisive so we need a balance in being patient and control the counter attacks but also attack with a full heart and take our chances." • "It's always tricky if you don't have a left-footed left back but it's also a possibility that we have James Justin play like Phillip Lahm who was a right footed left back for Germany and who was pretty much the best left back in the world although he was right footed. He could cut inside, assist and bring in-swinger crosses and then you have partnerships with players on that side where you can adapt so that the teammate is covering out wide and he is coming inside. But we also have left footed players in our squad so I don't want to speak too much about what we will do. Of course I'd prefer if Gabi was available but we're not going to feel sorry for ourselves or complain that Gabi is not available- we have to find good solutions on how to open up (Burnley, using the players we have)." OTHER • On Bayern v PSG showing what the Premier League hasn't last night: "The Premier League is the best league in the world. Teams like Bayern and PSG are world class teams. It's quite normal that they both can win the Champions League without any doubts and also all the Premier League teams are competitive. Manchester City could win it any season, Arsenal could win it. It was enjoyable to watch. We watch very neutral and enjoy all the goals. But.. I was also interested how the national newspapers have judged it. The French papers said it was great. In Germany, the newspapers were quite critical of the defence. So as a neutral I enjoyed it, it was one of the best games I have seen over the last decade. You can enjoy the goals but the defensive behaviour could be better some times because to concede 5 goals is not good. But our Premier League is quite competitive but for balance a 1-0 can also be quite entertaining and magic nights like this don't come along that often." • On Mateo Joseph's serious ACL (knee) injury: "I'm only willing to talk about players who are here. And I will speak about the future only when everything is done. But the thoughts are with Mateo Joseph on such an injury. Of course the mother club is involved. But he needs proper rehab."

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE (apart from Leeds fans) has agreed that Martinez’s red card was the wrong decision. But tomorrow he’ll serve the 2nd of a 3 match ban. Hair pulls every week since, and only Manchester United punished for it. @FA_PGMOL silent as always.

Scott Parker's future at Burnley being discussed. No final decision yet but a mutual parting of ways is possible. Former Burnley assistant and Wales boss Craig Bellamy one name appreciated if a change is made. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard is keen to return to the management and open to a role in the Championship. No ties to Al-Ettifaq now, having stayed on as a consultant after leaving as manager, and no historical tax implications if Gerrard does take a new role in the UK.🟣 🤝 @alex_crook

@itsrichwilliams It’s simple ban players from approaching bench during stoppages book/ send them off if they do. It’s footballs dark arts ,ironically it’s the top teams that do it

One final thing on today’s game… and it’s not just today… but the keeper-going-down routine is fast becoming the scourge of the game. Authorities; find a plan to stop it and get it gone before the next season kicks off.

39 YEARS and this is what farke has served up... shown them way too much respect just like at Stamford Bridge. 2-0 down before we started to play.
