@MLGW just spoke with a few people in line to pay MLGW bills at Lamar location, wait times are about an hour and a half. Phone pay has said “all circuits are busy” most of today. Rates went up, disconnects started again, and now even if you can pay, there’s nobody to take your $.

It is correct that the cabin is pressurized at cruising altitude, so you'd need tens of thousands of pounds of force to open the door. They are locked by the pilot while the plane is moving. No single person is physically capable of opening the doors unless they are on manual.

@HardeepAsrani @cherthedev Yes, it applies to all fuselage doors on Part 25 certified aircraft (which is basically every scheduled flight in the US). Implementation details are left to the manufacturer though on how to achieve this.

@cherthedev Does this also apply to emergency doors or can one open it during the flight?

@cherthedev Ref for other AV nerds: part 25 regs covering fuselage doors are covered in 14 CFR § 25.783. Relevant quote: “design precautions must be taken to minimize the possibility for a person to open a door intentionally during flight”. So if you’re in a transport plane, you’re covered.

@turnrye Well, we are definitely talking about commercial passenger planes here, which I assure you, someone would have killed people by opening one of those doors by now if there weren't locks in place controlled by the pilot.

This is misleading, allowing people to believe duct tape is an acceptable restraint for the situation. It is impossible to open the plane door while in the air. She was restrained for biting a flight attendant. @AmericanAir should have humane restraint equipment on board.

Got my wife choco covered strawberries for V Day, came sour. No problem, I’ll make some fresh. Store was sold out of berries. Finally back in stock this week. Just finished making them. I put them in our basement freezer to harden. Tray promptly slid out, onto floor. All wasted.
