This video out of Ontario is absolute chaos. The provincial government has been aggressively shutting down supervised safe consumption sites to force a strict abstinence only model. But as you can see, closing the clinics didn't make the addiction problem disappear, it just pushed the crisis directly onto the public sidewalks.

My extracurricular hobby Type of model: styleGAN2-ada Training date: early 2021 Dataset size: 1000+ images Dataset genre: Ancient architecture Training checkpoint: 20000 (I think?) Notes: It took so long for this to render. Dataset was found in a free-use archive of images from the British Library. I made several attempts at training this dataset but I always come back to this particular trained model I did in 2021. One thing I found very interesting is during training you will reach a point where things hit a ceiling as far as fidelity goes. It seems like there are times where things fall together well and it just works out- other times you can spend dozens of extra hours training to end up with a regressed version of what you planned. Almost as if the model turns back in on itself (unlearns)- making any further training attempts futile. The aspect of uncertainty in this kind of work is what i am drawn to. Hundreds of hours can be put into training a model, in which you are essentially blind folded. When you become familiar with the way the network interprets things, you can KIND OF get an idea of how to get from A to B, but no matter how much planning put into things, there will always be those xyz factors you cannot predict.
