If I were a retail establishment, I wouldn't want @askcomenity to be inovlved with my brand. I am trying to resolve my 85 yo mother's credit card debt from @talbots and they are so hostile! Horrible customer experience.

I just re-read Stephen Covey’s classic “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and was struck by how the first 3 habits cleanly map to the top attributes of barrels (see below for more on barrels).
1. Be Proactive => High Agency
2. Begin with the End in Mind => Outcome (not Activity) focused
3. Put First Things First => Ruthless Prioritization

1. Barrels and ammunition I didn’t overlap with @KeithRabois at @Square, but when I joined, his precepts were (and still are) all over the company. One of the most powerful metaphors - not least because of the vivid imagery - was that of barrels and ammunition.

References for hiring are so tough - a person in the wrong role / wrong company can be mediocre & in the right role / right company can be incredible. Same applies to founders & founder references as well. Have seen many times!
