We call on African governments, investors and financiers to join forces in advancing the green industrialisation and energy transition agenda in our continent. Governments must remove the bottlenecks on the way to green industrialisation by providing efficient permits, and enabling predictable policy and a conducive environment for investment. On their part, financiers must make investments affordable and accessible while businesspeople must provide clarity on what they are prepared to invest, build, buy, and timelines for delivery. Together, we can build Africa into a competitive industrial powerhouse that drives inclusive growth, advances climate action, and shared prosperity for generations to come. This evening at State House in Nairobi, President Kagame joined other leaders for a State Dinner hosted by President William Ruto of Kenya and First Lady Rachel Ruto in honour of Heads of State and Government attending the #AfricaForward Summit.

Today I had the privilege of attending a comprehensive and insightful briefing on Finland’s security policy delivered by The Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs @elinavaltonen to the diplomatic corps. Her clarity, depth of analysis, and principled approach to today’s evolving global security landscape were truly commendable. Together with the Ambassador of Kenya, HE Angeline Musili @Mamagov1 we also expressed our appreciation for the leadership of The President of Finland , His Excellency President @alexstubb and his strong commitment to inclusiveness in global governance, particularly his clear support for greater African representation within the United Nations system. As President Stubb stated: “Africa’s permanent representation in the Security Council is long overdue. The reformed Council should have two permanent members from Africa, alongside with new permanent members from Asia and Latin America.” His thoughtful engagement on the question of Security Council reform and veto power reflects an important recognition of the need for a more balanced and representative international order. We also emphasized the importance of strengthening Finland–Africa economic relations by addressing barriers to trade, including through Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTTA), while also underscoring the need to contextualize crises as part of interconnected global challenges. Sustainable solutions require not only collective action, but also an honest consideration of the root causes that drive conflict, instability, and inequality.

This morning in Gaborone, President Kagame toured Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTC Botswana), a 50/50 joint venture between the Government of Botswana and De Beers. DTC Botswana is the world’s largest and most sophisticated rough diamond sorting and valuing operation, with the capacity to sort up to 45 million carats annually.

Rwanda and Botswana have signed a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, part of a series of bilateral agreements and MoU's concluded in Gaborone during H.E. President Paul Kagame’s two-day state visit to Botswana.

This afternoon at the State House in Gaborone, President Kagame and President @duma_boko held a tête-à-tête meeting followed by bilateral talks with their respective delegations. The two Heads of State then witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements and Memorandums of Understanding between Rwanda and Botswana on avoidance of double taxation, visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official, and national passports, air services, health, economic, trade and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration between the Rwanda Development Board and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.
