It would be a barn burner starting at the top. Only SESs can sit on those GS15 hiring boards. Incumbents approved only by appointees. Then move to GS14, then GS13, etc…. Only new hires under this program can sit on hiring boards. You’d have a new USG in 12 months! Many better qualified candidates from inside, but importantly, outside the USG will compete.

FULL CENTCOM STATEMENT ON NAVEL BLOCKADE: TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces will begin implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports on April 13 at 10 a.m. ET, in accordance with the President’s proclamation. The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports. Additional information will be provided to commercial mariners through a formal notice prior to the start of the blockade. All mariners are advised to monitor Notice to Mariners broadcasts and contact U.S. naval forces on bridge-to-bridge channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz approaches.

Did you know the guy who played the cop in The Sting and so many unforgettable character roles was a hardcore WWII combat veteran? Charles Durning was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 20. He landed on Omaha Beach with the first waves on D-Day, was the only survivor from his landing craft after a machine-gun ambush, and took shrapnel from a German mine just days later, earning his first Purple Heart. After six months recovering in England, he went right back into it: fought in the Battle of the Bulge, survived brutal hand-to-hand combat, took a bullet to the chest, and was one of the few who escaped the Malmedy massacre. By the end of the war, this man had earned a Silver Star for valor and three Purple Hearts total. Discharged as a Private First Class in 1946. He rarely talked about it later, said the memories were too painful, but that grit from the battlefield clearly fueled one of Hollywood’s most reliable tough-guy performances. Real American hero. Massive respect to every veteran who stormed those beaches and held the line. 🫡
