The “Acute Waiting List Action Plan September – December 2021” published this week is necessary but nowhere near sufficient. Multi-year budgets and reversing the self inflicted consultant recruitment crisis are absolute must do’s.
IHCA@IHCA_IE

Hospital waiting lists are at unmanageable levels. Last year almost 9 people were added every hour, 24 hours a day, to a waiting list. @DonnellyStephen @MichealMartinTD @LeoVaradkar @paulreiddublin how many more patients will be added before there is firm action? #CareCantWait

Tony O'Brien calls for the introduction of No Fault Compensation for medical negligence claims. He has made that call repeatedly. It is much more compassionate for patients 5/6

He identifies medical recruitment and retention as a major concern. It is causing huge problems - especially in smaller hospitals @IHCA_IE @IMO_IRL 4/6

This is an incredible interview by Susan Mitchell with former HSE chief executive Tony O'Brien. It is insightful, honest and passionate. A must read for anyone who cares about Irish healthcare: lnkd.in/gAM-bE4

Last May, Tony O’Brien resigned as head of the HSE over the CervicalCheck controversy. Stung by what he feels was unfair treatment, today he calls for a ‘sense of decorum and fairness’ to ‘return to Irish political life and the mainstream media’ @susmitchellSBP reports

Have a major interview with ex HSE chief Tony O’Brien in SBP tomorrow. It’s his first interview since his departure. And he has plenty to say. #tonyobrien
