Before the race vs after Eldest Kobold finished 11th overall, 1st in his age group. I finished 40th, 2nd in my age group, under 45 minutes. Not sure of official times, though I know I was sub 45 minutes.

Just completed a job interview and I think it went really well! They’re setting up a second interview with the director of the department I applied to. Fingers crossed!

Never heard anyone claim to have racked up more points than that, nor did anyone dispute that a mascot of such stature (in the South) would be worth less points under those circumstances. Life got weird in the South, sometimes.

We left behind a scene of utter bedlam, people losing their minds screaming running in circles the tent in flames I'm kidding. By the time we hit the street, they'd helped the Kid back up and were dusting him off.

One hour ago, I passed someone walking the other way down the sidewalk, a person wearing a full-body knockoff Mickey Mouse costume, and had to question if some of my college-era chemical experimentation was coming back around to say hi. I have led a weird life.
