Recent pickup. My first Barre Phillips as leader. Hmm! Definitely a bit different. Rypdal is also on it, so his influence is heavy. The album itself is thick and humid, almost fourth world sounding. I am fighting some flavor fatigue w the “ECM sound”, this refreshes the palette.
