Nice letter but it’s not “A Common-Sense Path Forward on Cannabis”, it’s a market grab dressed up as concern. You are pushing to shut down a competitive hemp industry by exaggerating risks, cherry-picking bad actors, and fear-mongering about fentanyl and foreign crime with no real evidence. You’re pretending your tightly licensed cannabis model is somehow flawless despite its own track record of contamination issues and regulatory failures. The reality is simple, hemp is legal, widely tested, and competing with your business. Instead of competing, you want policymakers to eliminate that competition and hand the market to you and a handful of MSOs under the guise of “safety.” I bet SAM would love to have you on their team.

“Vape shops have been allowed to get away with selling unregulated products, with documented negative health impacts not only to adults, but to minors without penalty,” Attorney General Jay Jones said in a statement to Virginia Scope.

Virginia’s Office of the Attorney General has instructed commonwealth attorneys to begin enforcing the law that was passed in 2024.
